Hi,
The new option for “Generate chapter thumbnails” has me a bit confused.
If I have “Generate video preview thumbnails” turned on for when media is added, will that generate the chapter thumbnails at the same time?
If I have “Generate video preview thumbnails” set to when media is added and “Generate chapter thumbnails” set to when media is add, does the video get processed twice?
I would expect that “Generate video preview thumbnails” would also make the chapter thumbnails, but this is not clear.
These are 2 separate tasks, hence the 2 different options. The video preview (BIFs) are based on a set interval, while the chapter images can occur at any set time, so the file does need to be processes twice.
Thanks!
As a follow-up, wouldn’t it make sense to merge them together? I.e. take a snapshot every n seconds, plus whenever the chapter markers are?
Processing HEVC files is somewhat processor intensive, so doing it only once would be great!
There isn’t a way to do both operations simultaneously. It would take the same amount of time so there wouldn’t be any gain by doing then in one step.
