Tidal "Add to <library>" not showing

Hi,

I currently have a Tidal Family account. My Plex Media Server runs on a NAS, where all my music is stored. I currently have a single account, admin, on the server, which has Tidal enabled.

When I right click on a tidal track, I can choose to add it to my library.

I have now created an additional home user account for my wife, she has her own Plex pass, which is linked as a tidal family member. From her account, I can browse tidal, and add stuff to my tidal, but I am unable to add tidal tracks to the library.

Shouldn’t it be possible to add tidal tracks to her Plex music library?

Thanks
Michael

Tidal family accounts are unfortunately not usable in Plex. They will only work correctly for the admin.
All other users will only get access to Tidal in “preview mode”.

I am not sure the problem is me using Tidal Family. I am just linking a non admin home user to one of the Tidal family accounts.

Also, Tidal is not in preview mode in Plex. But Plex does not allow me to add tidal music to the Plex music library, as it allows me to do on the admin user.

Tidal family accounts do in fact work well with Plex accounts. I switched to Tidal Family, disconnected my original Tidal from Plex and changed my managed user accounts to full Plex Home accounts, each with their tidal family account connected to their Plex account.

However to answer your question, only the Plex Media Server admin account can add content to Plex libraries so only the Plex admin accounts Tidal account can use the Add to Library feature. I learned this the hard way.

To add insult to injury, any Tidal content the Plex Admin adds to Plex Music Libraries is NOT available to other Plex users (managed, Home, or otherwise) even if they also have Tidal integration on their Plex account.

The Plex/Tidal integration is deeply flawed.

Thanks for the explanation. That is really unfortunate. Would be awesome to get that to work properly.

Indeed it would. The whole “supplementing” and “completing” your existing music library with Tidal content was one of the main draws for me.

In fact, the way the integration is designed means the marketed features are not actually readily available to many (if not most) Plex users who actually wanted it. It appears it’s not fit for purpose.
