Tidal Playback Errors

Considering that Plex is making a point of actively promoting TIDAL via social media, I find it quite disappointing that this integration is not without its problems.

I find regularly that tracks on Tidal simply wont play and return the following:- “Playback Error. An error occurred trying to play “Smack My ■■■■■ Up”.Error code: h4 (Codec)”

This would indicate that the Plex server build doesnt include or support the necessary codec to play the track as hosted. Is it expected that the track is to be recoded cause if so then this will be an overhead on the server which isnt explained when the Tidal service is being promoted and sold.

Be interested if others are experiencing the same issues.

That error message is misleading. It’s not really a codec issue, it’s just the error we get back from Tidal. Were you perhaps trying to use Tidal from multiple clients at the same time?

Possibly. I use Plex at work as does my wife. The error wasnt on all files/tracks though

Maybe she was taking a break when things were working. :grinning:

Have just gone back to the same track and it still doent play. Only me using Plex now

Same error? Do you maybe have that track paused on another device?

Nope have checked phones, tablet and our laptops. Is this all down to Tidal can only have one instance of the track being played at any time??
