I have the latest publi release of PMS on Android TV. I am unable to use time shifting. Very frustrating. Have problems after problems with plex . Any idea why I cannot use time shifting ?
Same (also on Android TV). I hadn’t realized it until this morning, but my wife says it’s been present for a few days. I actually suspect it’s a problem with the recent Android TV app update.
Thanks. Sadly, I came to realize that PLEX is not very stable and have decided to move on to other solutions. Thanks for your response. Fortunately, I only purchased a one month PLEXPASS.

Things have slowly gotten better with Live TV / DVR in fits and starts, but I can definitely sympathize. It’s been a lot of 1 step forward, 0-3 steps back from update to update. As a media server, which is what I purchased the lifetime pass for, Plex does a fantastic job for my household’s needs, but DVR and Live TV have been a bit of a rocky road. Certainly usable and has a ton of potential, but if there’s a better fit out there for you today, I certainly can’t fault you for the decision.
same here on time shifting btw
Same here, firetv not sure if it is the player or the server. Will check
I will just add to this thread and maybe we can make it the official for the bug that is affecting time shift.
I am running Plex Media Server 1.12.3.4973 on an Nvidia shield with the latest player app and time shift is not working correctly for me on Live TV.
Not working here either on Gen 2 Fire TV (box), picture just freezes for a second but then carries on playing live.
I too am experiencing the same problem with time shifting on the Shield TV. picture freezes for a second and starts playing live again.
I am also experiencing the inability to perform any time shifting on my Android Smart TV (Sony). I am using the most recent beta release of the PMS (sorry I don’t remember the version right now… not home).

So you are suggesting that this not fixed in the current beta? Another user in the beta forum had reported this issue some time ago and indicated that this was fixed as of 6.16.1.x which just became public today. I didn’t change to beta, because I assumed the fix was in the pipeline based on what the OP indicated in the beta thread.
Edit: Whoops, I thought you were referring to the Android TV Beta Client, but you’re referring to the server. Hopefully this is fixed with today’s update, then!
This does appear to have been addressed.
I can confirm that time shifting is not working properly in PMS 1.12.3.4973.
I can “Pause” LiveTV but I can not navigate backwards and forwards.
And you are on the 6.16.1 version of the Android TV Client? We’be had this problem on a Sony Android TV for at least the last few releases, and today’s update does seem to have addressed it for us.
Edit: @jswantek, to be clear, this is an issue that the client is responsible for, so the client version should be the only version that’s relevant, as far as I’m aware.
Ahh. I stand corrected. I just upgraded to 6.16.1 (was on 6.16.0) and now time shifting functionality seems to have returned to where it was a few weeks back. Thanks for helping out and clarifying this for me.
Still not working on Fire TV (Gen 2 Box), any attempt to rewind live tv just freezes and plays live again.
Recordings playback seems to have improved though.
Edit: Plex app version is 6.15.2.4143 on Fire TV so guess need to wait for it to update.
I have the same problem, live tv is still very flaky. Also still get weak signal every time there is an add break
