Timeshifting live tv

I’d like to be able to pause and rewind live tv. This feature is present in almost all tv boxes with built in recorders.

I’d be happy with 15 minutes, but typically such feature is 90 minutes or a whole program.

If I watch a program then I press record, the current program should be saved from the start - as it would be buffered in the time shift buffer.

This is already implemented in some Plex client types.
Please specify which client type you are using.

I’m using firetv and there does not appear to be any time shifting of live TV

So what is the Plex preferred box for live TV? I really want to use Plex live TV full time but on fire TV stick, it’s a very poor experience. Please advise.

I don’t want to appear as a hater, in fact I love the Plex experience for movies. Just so far, I’ve been underwhelmed with the live TV aspect. If I need new hardware, let me know what I need to buy. Thank you

I have an older FireTV Stick and if I start live TV and then press the Pause button, live tv pauses.
I can then resume it, or jump forward or backward, but of course backward only to the point from when I tuned in.

Doing so requires your plex server to be able to transcode reasonably fast.
If your server is not a modern PC or comparable device, then the live tV experience is poor - particularly when compared to a native TV device.

Ha! You’re correct. It does. It hasn’t fixed the interlace issue though. But thanks.
