A couple of weeks ago, out of the blue, I got a Tivo error message that said “Unable to Connect to Plex Server”. The next day I was unable to connect to the Plex Server on either my Smart TV, Roku and Smart Phone or Tablet. I across an article that said I might have a firewall problem. l Like a lot of people I have Windows 10 so I opened up Windows Security and clicked on Firewall and Network Protection. Then I clicked on “Allow Apps to Communicate Through Windows Defender Firewall”. There are a bunch of Plex App selections here and all boxes were checked EXCEPT for Plex Server. For some reason none of the Plex Server boxes were checked. I don’t recall ever messing with this in the past, but I thought I might as well click on “Change Settings” so that I could put check marks in all the Plex Server boxes. Having done that, I clicked OK. Then I started checking my devices (Smartphone, then Tablet, then Sony Bravia Smart TV). They all connected to Plex with no problem. So then I thought " I wonder if Tivo Plex will work, so I got into Plex on my Tivo Roameo and Bingo!- it connected with no problem at all. I suppose it was possible that Windows did some auto update that unchecked the Firewall server boxes (who knows?). Anyway, once I check-marked all the Plex Boxes in the Windows Defender Firewall, everything worked fine and is still working.
