TMDB Agent pulling incorrect metadata for release dates

Server Version#: 4.31.1

Hiya,

Just noticed some odd behaviour, after the last couple of updates when plex is pulling metadata using the TMDB Agent. It’s not bringing over the correct theatrical release date (UK). Instead its pulling Physical or Digital release dates.

Here’s some pics to illustrate;

  1. I cannot reproduce.

  2. File Naming

[chuck@lizum ~.265]$ ls -al /vie/qa/movies/Train*
total 12
drwxr-xr-x 2 chuck chuck 4096 Apr 10 10:47 ./
drwxr-xr-x 29 chuck chuck 4096 Apr 10 10:47 ../
-rw-r--r-- 1 chuck chuck 288 Apr 10 10:47 Trainspotting (1996).mkv
[chuck@lizum ~.266]$
  1. Which host platform is this occurring on?

Hi,

Sorry about the tags (Server Synology Setup). Really strange you can’t reproduce as I’ve just added a folder to scan using Movie database as the agent and pretty much every movie that has a digital or physical release is scraping that instead of the theatrical release date…, my country is set to United Kingdom, if that makes any difference for reproducing it?

Someone thought it was cool to add that 2020 release date for the Blu Rays - or whatever - for the UK.

I combat that kind of stupidity, by signing in, then deleting nonsense like that from the database. Unfortunately, for today, you’ll need to hand edit that item. Takes a day or two for ‘repairs’ to kick in.

Chuck can’t reproduce it 'cause I’ve already gotten to that one for US - the other day when I added the pair of them… (I think - I’ve done so many lately…lol)

Become a TMDB member.
Join in the fun.

Also make sure Local Media Assets is NOT in priority under every tab in shows and movies - just in case a title field in an MP4 file comes knockin’.

And Chuck could possibly put a ‘bug’ in the ear of ‘Maching Engine Central’ - we need ONLY the original Release Date from TMDB - not infectious injections from the mentally unprepared (the general user base that hasn’t a clue what they’re doing - to us).

Ah, that’s making sense now. I’m already a member so will start deleting these…have so many that I’ve noticed though…ugh. Be handy if Plex could just pull the official theatrical release from the TMDB Agent scraper script.

Cheers for the heads up, I have something to kill my time in iockdown now

Between that and a recent run of Original Looney Tunes (one of greatest pain in the ■■■■■ of all time to get into Plex) - I’m good. It’s nice to have a hobby.

Yes - Plex needs to alter that bit I think 'cause there’s more of ‘them’ than there is of ‘us’.

“Looney Tunes” are what you find me singing most nights after long days in the forum.

My ‘Method’:

double click ‘title01.mkv’, VLC fires up - hit pause.
Scrub forward to see the Roman Numerals for the copyright notice - do the math - go to TVDB - find the show - ‘pre-name’ it for filebot with the year/episode.

Repeat.

At NO TIME allow ‘The Merry Go Round Broke Down’ to start playing 'cause if you get that stuck in your head - ur in trouble.
