I created the following TMDB entry on Feb. 9th:
As of Feb. 17, this still is not matching in my library. I have tried matching using Plex Movie Agent and the TMDB Agent, but neither will pull the metadata from TMDB. Radarr correctly identifies the movie and downloads all metadata. I also tried creating the movie in IMDB and adding it as an ‘external link’ in its TMDB entry.

I know it can take some time for metadata to sync to the Plex metadata server, but that wouldn’t explain the issue pulling metadata from the TMDB agent. Does anyone know where to take it from here? I’m at a loss.
I made a test file for this in my Movies folder and its not matching for me either. I would say your TMDB entry is fine. I’m also running jellyfin on this box and it matched fine.
Unfortunately, I think that just means Plex hasn’t ingested the metadata yet.
Maybe I misunderstand how the different agents work but I thought if I set my library to use the TMDB agent and then tried to match that one movie using that agent, that it would pull it direct from the TMDB not from Plex’s metadata cache server? If that is a correct understanding, I don’t understand why that also doesn’t pull any metadata.
Well, that’s how you’d like it to work. Sure, try the Plex cached data first but if I’m giving you the TMDB id, go grab that. Or at least grab it and then do whatever massaging they do to it with other data.
The inner workings of Plex are still a bit of a mystery to me.
That item didn’t have its title filled in until the 15th.
(you had only “original title” provided until then, which is handled differently)
If this release has an age certification, definitely add that to the release date on TMDB.
“Unrated” items are sometimes filtered out to prevent pr0n and other things from appearing.
Interesting, thanks for the input. FWIW the ‘title’ parameter is optional and has a display name of ‘Translated Title (English)’ in the TMDB edit page.
I’ll wait another week to see if it makes it into the Plex metadata database
