To which router should I connect my Plex server and NAS box?

I’d like to know the preferred configuration for a wired ethernet connection from my Plex Server PC to the router. I have two routers. The first router is the Verizon FiOS service unit, and the second is a 5G router (Netgear) cabled to the Verizon router. I use the Netgear for wireless service in the house, since it has superior wireless capability over the Verizon router.

My Plex server is a fast Dell PC running Windows 10. My media library is stored on a Synology NAS box with four hard drives. All these devices are physically in the same room so easy to connect to either.

My question: is it better to connect the ethernet cables from the Plex server and the NAS to the Verizon router, or the Netgear router? Does it matter? Does using two routers in this way cause a “double NAT” problem?

I’m afraid the network information in the support pages is over my head technically, so I appreciate your help. Would like to get the physical connection correct before starting to troubleshoot the server and router settings.

Thank you!

Can the Verizon unit be set to bridged mode only and used as a modem only? 2 routers is going to cause latency, NAT and other headaches

Thank you for responding DDimit. My understanding is that it is possible, but setting my Verizon Actiontec router to bridge mode will disable my set-top boxes for TV hookups. I think the set-top boxes rely on the Actiontec for the TV listings. Would welcome any suggestions from anyone who has taken this approach.

With the help of a local network tech my remote access has been restored. My server PC and NAS box are physically connected to the Verizon router. The Netgear router is still connected to the Verizon unit, but now I connect wirelessly to the Verizon using the 5G network, avoiding the Netgear entirely for Plex.
