Today’s Update… "Something went wrong An unexpected error occurred."
That’s all it says. I have a GREEN light but no files Showing up in/on PLEX, ONLY THIS BS GARBAGE “More Ways To Watch” WHICH ISN’T MY MEDIA, EVEN THOUGH ALL THAT I CAN IS TURNED OFF/DISABLED IN SETTINGS AS FAR AS OUTSIDE STREAMING SERVICES… SERVICES THAT I DIDN’T ASK FOR AND DO NOT WANT! NOW THAT IS ALL IT WILL ALLOW ME TO PLAY. I CAN PLAY MY SERVER FILES with VLC ON THE SERVER BUT IT DEFEATS THE PURPOSE OF PAYING FOR PLEX as ONLY I CAN VIEW THEM NOW on VLC & THIS IS AN ONGOING THING WHERE I AM FORCED INTO THINGS I DO NOT WANT OR NEED. I WANT TO GO BACK IN FW & NEVER UPDATE AGAIN. HOW DO I DO THAT? THERE SHOULD BE A STICKY WITH BACKWARD FW INSTRUCTIONS with AS MANY CHANGES THAT ARE FORCED UPON US

Can anyone tell me what happened with TODAY’s UPDATE??? Anyone else have this issue? My Server ran better than it ever has the past few weeks and then the changes came again and this time, nothing works. I restarted the Server multiple times, I have no updates needed for the Server OS WIN10. I have a Sever MOBO & use this ONLY for PLEX and it is just BLANK on EVERY Library. Do we need to “SHARE” each individual Library now with this new setup? I have a GREEN Light and my files are here but since the update, NOTHING APPEARS in ANY LIBRARY in ANY PLEX APP/Client. PICS ATTACHED BELOW

I am having the same issue, any updates?

Same. I’m over this. I used to be able to repair the cataclysms the updates brought by downgrading to 1.21.4.4079. No more! They must have snuck something in there to keep me from being able to view my own media. I’ve tried EVERY BLOODY FIX out thre, including the database reapir and nothing. This is so bloody infuriating.

After update 5715 was installed yesterday on my windows server, I got the dreaded “Something went wrong” error. After finding various forum posts, I downloaded the prior version of the server from https://downloads.plex.tv/plex-media-server-new/1.25.9.5721-965587f64/windows/PlexMediaServer-1.25.9.5721-965587f64-x86.exe and it worked.

Steps taken:

  1. Just in case, backed up database
  2. Uninstall using windows add/remove programs
  3. Download and install from above link
  4. Start server

I’m now reinstalling the update to 5715 and seeing if it breaks again (I assume it will)…

Hope this helps.

J.

[UPDATE: I reinstalled 5715 and, yes, the server broke again with “Something went wrong” — I rolled back to the prior version again, and it worked again]

[UPDATE 2: I installed 5772 which is on the beta channel, and I am still receiving the “Something went wrong” error…]

[UPDATE 3: I installed 5798, still an issue…]

Thank you for sharing this fix! It fixed my movies library, but not my TV. TV still says the something went wrong error. I tried to add/remove libraries to see if I could force Plex to “recheck” everything, but no matter how many times I try to delete libraries, I cannot get them to go away.

I don’t pay for plex pass, but I have paid for the app on my android devices. Is there any kind of additional support from the company for issues like this? Clearly this is their software’s problem and not our machines. What options are there to get this stuff fixed?

Just providing one final update… I posted a request with specific information as most of the solutions were about fixing a corrupt DB after install… So, in my post it was brought up that there may still be DB issues with everything working. So, I fixed the DB prior to upgrading, upgraded and now everything is working. In particular, there were 3 indexes I completed a reindex on and it worked. See more here:

i f’ing love you for this, i spent over a month troubleshooting this you’re a LIFESAVER. i would have your babies if i could harness the power!

If anyone else is experiencing this my first thought would be DB corruption too. Posting your server logs allows us to see if we can spot an issue.

I get this on my Mac every day. Plex simply is ■■■■

I Fixed mine. I rolled back the fw and now use Version 1.24.5.5173 … It has not given me an issue since and it’s about 2 months now, I literally just hit pass on the new Update and that’s it. Not ever updating again, or at least, that’s the plan. I removed Plex program thru the old Control Panel and do not use a 3rd party uninstaller as they’ve been said to screw the Program up and you’d have to start at scratch again. I uninstalled Plex from Drop/Add Programs. I cant remember if I rebooted then or if I rebooted after the fw I wanted, was uploaded, or both. There are posts on how and where to find your old FW on your Server. I just reinstalled that and voila. Never updating again. If your Plex was working well around Christmas last year, then this is the FW you want. I think it was one of the last ones before all the TV Channel Streaming nonsense took over. I hope this helps someone. I seriously have my fingers crossed but my PMS has not kicked off once since I did this. Cheers

PS> Do your research on the method if you want to be certain when to reboot, etc. I followed someone else’s examples in this very method in the forum somewhere. I’m certain a search will find it. G’Luck
