I took over ownership of my brother’s server. He had plexpass–which will expire in a day or so. Since I have a lifetime pass, I cancelled the monthly subscription he had and claimed it on my account. Since then, I’ve not been able to access the server unless I log into it directly.
If I log into it directly with my account that has the lifetime account, I can see it perfectly fine and manage it. I can access my other server’s setting while logged in this way as well. However, if I try to access it via apps.plex.tv, neither I nor any of my users can access via the web. I do see some users are still able to access the server via Roku.
Yep! I confirmed deletion from my brother’s before claiming it. Post claim, it only shows up in my list of authorized devices.
And while checking that just now, I decided to check in on apps.plex.tv as the url for access instead of a direct connection to the server…and it appears as though it’s working now. Whatever that needed to be migrated has so all is good.
New edit: After hearing from another user, I checked….seemingly when this was silently fixed, the share settings for his server under my account was disabled for every single person that I’d already given new access to. Something was obviously changed on my account end behind the scenes should anyone else encounter this issue.
Off to redo work. Oof. But still many thanks to whomever silently fixed things. <3
Hey question for you. I’m in a similar spot and was wondering when you took over your Brother’s server did you have to re invite everyone to your brother’s server for access?
Or was it seamless on the user end?
i.e. I want to take over an existing server but worried users need to accept invites and reconfigure their apps and library preferences.
