I have the Top Gear Challenges 1-6 dvd set. I have individually moved each video from the Challenges series into the TV shows folder within my file system so:
TV Shows -> Top Gear - Season xx - Episode xx
This works for a number of the challenges, however this does not work for all since there are duplicate episodes (as a couple of challenges were aired during the same episode) and I see the duplicate image over the episode image.
What are the ways around this? Surely, there should be a logical way forward for this as I would like to keep all of the Top Gear together since I have the Specials also located in the same Top Gear folder.
Is there a way to split the duplicate files - I cannot seem to find any way of doing this? I am not keen to have to merge files together.
You can only split the entire show – not individual episodes. So that won’t do you any good in that particular case.
The tricky part in this will be that you’re trying to match apples and oranges… the challenges are clips from the show, not episodes.
That being said… your best shot might be to name clips from the same episode as -pt1, -pt2, …for that particular episode. This should result in the clips being played sequentially instead of showing as duplicates.
If you’re ok with manually editing the metadata, an alternative could be to assign each clip an individual episode number either after the regular episodes of that season or the end of the specials.
Thank you both for your replies. I have decided to use -pt1, pt2 for each. Not a perfect solution.
I am surprised that I cannot add free text after -pt1. I guess the only other solution is to make each video its own episode to keep a description to make it recognisable when accessing the files within Windows Explorer.
