Subscribed to Plex Arcade, went to parsec.app to create my account from the Plex Arcade subscription page. And nothing. No sign of where to add my Parsec account to Plex. Nothing in the (latest as of today) server software about setting up a library for my ROM files. Nothing. I can’t see anything about Plex Arcade anywhere. If I go to https://www.plex.tv/arcade/ it simply says I’m already subscribed and redirects me… back to https://www.plex.tv/arcade/.
If I launch Plex from the page there’s nothing about arcade anywhere.
My account subscription page does show Plex Arcade though.
Thanks for the awesome quick response. I totally missed parsec on that page.
I’ve linked my parsec account, and even restarted the Plex server. But I still don’t see an option anywhere to configure anything for Plex Arcade on my server (1.21.2.3943). So I don’t know where to put ROM files, or how to tell the server where to look for them (or even an icon in Plex for Arcade).
Hi, I don’t have the option to add a Games Library. Games is just not there as an option. ?
Yes I have an Arcade account and have setup and linked a Parsec account.
I am missing something.
This was my problem. It’s been so long since I added a library I forgot where to look.
I had been looking under Settings > Library, but I SHOULD have been looking under Manage > Library > Add Library. I probably looked there, but didn’t click “Add Library”.
I’ve made the game library (Selected to add the Atari games) ensured my account was linked and re-linked. Restarted my server and I still don’t see any games.
Very, very, very confusing. Why does this have to be so difficult to set up? Parsec linking doesn’t work in Safari BTW only on Chrome. Constant errors -15000, 8003, 8005. No idea what most of these mean and can only find vague references and links that just send you around in circles. I am not a ROM guy, never used emulators before. Here is my setup:
iMac 13,2 at 10.14.6 running latest PMS, with an RX580 video card.
Setup Arcade with Games folder alongside my other media folders, put ROMS in it.
Checked ~/Library/Application Support/ Plex Media Server/Game Cores - one file called mame_libreto.dylib
Scanned library and got all my ROMS and Plex Arcade games.
Tried Apple TV, Roku, Smart TV, web app, chromium browser (incognito or not), and a couple others all of which fail with errors every time.
Questions are:
Where are these game cores supposed to go, how many do I need to have in the folder? One for each console? I tried downloading all of them from buildbot - none work. Do I need to restart after adding one?
Second, why are there games showing up in ~/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Games? Should they not go to my mapped Media folder on another drive? Are these just for Arcade? I see multiple folders for Arcade, 2600, etc.
Not very happy with the lack of any real instructions - especially with the amount of work that is apparently needed - to get this feature working. Especially when asking for money from people trying to use it in the short window of the trial.
By my account, I have spent hours trying to parse through many posts from people who seem as lost as myself, trying to glean any piece of useful troubleshooting info have been fruitless. If SOMEONE can please post a guide with explanations of the steps it would be greatly appreciated. Including common error messages and ways to resolve them.
Thanks but I read all of this article (many times), did my own test, search on internet, download core, roms, etc.
I still didn’t have a chance to launch a game on my PMS ^^
So I understand geofbuck, to be honest, I’m waiting a lot about next Plex update, hoping that you will solve majority of the issue.
Yes I followed the guide already in terms of adding cores, putting the games in the right place, etc but still doesn’t work. I get consistent error -15000 Parsec or error 8003 Game error. The only thing I am not sure about is editing the XML file for adding cores. Not sure of the nomenclature for adding multiples for RetroCores.xml, are the individual entries separated by a comma? It only show the one stella core in the example and I have been trying multiple ones in same file.
Look at the alternative naming option where it’s all in 1 line. You basically add 1 line per core that you are adding. The stuff at the top and bottom don’t change.
Error 15000 typically means your GPU isn’t supported. If you haven’t gotten anything to play, this is the issue.
Running on MacOS Mojave PMS server. Tried headless and not. Let me ask this: what does the default Retrocores.xml contain? what cores are added by default when you set it up? Which dylib file should be in Game Cores folder by default? Do I need to add all these cores/xml entries manually from first time setup? What does Plex Arcade even install by default? There is little info on this! Here is my xml file layout.
