Note: See the borders of the image at the letterbox. It’s jumping up and down. That is not from my hands shaking.
Hey!
Some content, when transcoded, has the video jumping up and down continuously to varying degrees of intensity. I mention the borders of the image because it’s easy to see but the whole image is jumping.
I’ve been trying to fix this for a few days and from what I can gather, only interlaced video does this and only when it’s being transcoded and turning off hardware transcoding fixes it. Since I want hardware transcoding, I won’t be disabling it, but I’m thinking of optimizing these files with software transcoding so that it will look OK when it can’t direct play. This might be a solution, but I’m wondering if anyone has more information, maybe a setting I should look for somewhere?
Additional info:
Does this on all clients.
The only interlaced files I have on my server are 480i, so I haven’t tested 1080i or others.
These are all from DVDs that I ripped.
Server uses an Intel Core i3-12100 for transcoding on a headless ubuntu server.
Thank you!
