[Transcoder] Unknown decoder ‘h264’ on 1.13.5.5291-6fa5e50a8

I don’t know what happened but since 1.13.5.5291-6fa5e50a8 I can’t play anymore mkv and avi files. MP4 works fine. It#s a plex fresh install with a complete new library I set up.

I am using Debian. Inside this folder (Library\Application Support\Plex Media Server\Codecs) there is a folder called e944d3a-1309-linux-ubuntu-x86_64 with these files image

Changing noexec in /etc/fstab file to exec solves the problem but is this a long time solution?

Yes, Until the next time you move the library .
What you’re seeing is how your OS manages non-root flagged partitions.

Your /var/lib is not in / by default? Most are.
/home is also a safe place.

Proxmox?

Sorry now responding with my other account.
I absolutely have no idea. I am using OpenMediaVault. I am just a user, not a technician.

So I can let it on exec now?
Normally I don’t move my library. It’s on my data disk, not OS disk.

If the Plex Library is on a non-OS disk, the exec bit must be specified in the mount options.
This is needed because the codecs are stored inside your Library (Plex Media Server/Codecs)

Is it possible that my OS changed it to noexec yesterday?
Because I didn’t change it.

anything is possible. We don’t use OMV . Officially, it’s not supported but there are those who do use it successfully

Yes like me. OMV, Plex, Webmin. No problem.

OMV sets all data disks’ mount options to noexec by default. So if you move or place the library to any location other than the rootfs, that location must be mounted exec.
