New Plex user here… I have used another app in the past that pretty much just rewrapped my HDHomerun Prime data and sent it to my Roku… Only used a couple percentage of my CPU to do this… I can’t find a setting within Plex that allows this… I figured Direct Play or Direct Stream would allow this but no matter what it’s using high CPU percentage to make it happen… What am I missing here?
Thanks!
Well, seems I figured it out myself… You need a “new” Roku that will support the MPEG-2 stream… I have one of the new ultras (4661) and it worked just fine with Direct Play! Good deal!
My 4660 Ultras do not support it yet… Hoping a firmware will get pushed out to them to resolve this issue…
Ok, so there was a software update for my 4660’s…
Things you need to make Direct Play work on the Roku…
- Plex Preview software running on your Roku (not the one in the Roku store)
- V9 software running on your Roku
- “Audio Mode” on the Roku has to be Dolby D. If you are seeing Auto (Stereo) try changing the HDMI to Dolby D then exit out of the menu and come back and see if Dolby D is selected for Audio Mode
- You must force Direct Play On in the Plex Preview software… It will not Auto Direct Play…
I think that’s it… Hope this helps someone else out…
