Transformers: War for Cybertron: Kingdom merged with Siege

Not sure why I’m even bothering with this thread but I’ll post it anyway. Maybe it’ll be cathartic to have yet another rant …

So, I have …

Transformers: War for Cybertron: Siege (2020) {tmdb-100617}
Transformers: War for Cybertron: Kingdom (2021) {tmdb-128255}
Transformers: War for Cybertron: Earthrise (2020) {tmdb-117682}

… all was added to my plex server years ago, probably 2020/2021 based on my view history. After a metadata refresh Kingdom has been removed and merged with Siege. No plex dance was done, just a metadata refresh.

Kingdom now no longer can be matched with tmdb-128255. Reason being some idiot over at tmdb added an incorrect external id to imdb which now results in plex have multiple ids for Siege.

Transformers: War for Cybertron: Siege (2020)
  plex://show/5e7362fdfc1a8d0040111196
  imdb://tt9789660
  tmdb://100617
  tmdb://128255
  tvdb://377694

What I cannot believe is that plex would unmatch a show I had previously matched, which also had locked metadata fields against it and then merge it based on this change. It really shows how fragile your agent/scanner code is to changes.

I have deleted the bad edit to tmdb in the hope this will fix the issue but based on DAHMER - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story -- multiple tmdb ids I’m not convinced.

Maybe do it like this: Transformers: War For Cybertron Trilogy - TheTVDB.com

Typical response… your using plex wrong, use this instead :frowning:

sigh

I was trying to offer an easy solution for you. But I guess you weren’t interested in that.

Your right, I’m not interested in that solution as its not a solution, its a workaround to a problem introduced by plex.

If I was do as you suggest, I’d need to remove all three shows from my server, merge them, add them again and switch episode ordering to tvdb. I’d lose my watch status and history for all users who watched the show(s). Again, not a solution, a workaround (bad one at that) to a plex limitation with its scanner/agent.

Do better. Work arounds are NOT solutions.
