"Treat WAN IP As LAN Bandwidth"

I’m wondering what this does and when to use it or not use it. When I had limited bandwidth per month I would shut it off, because it seemed like my ISP was counting even my local use as internet use. Lately I have unlimited bandwidth so it’s not an issue. I share my PMS with friends, does this help? I’ve looked this up in here before, I saw one post where they said that the entry didn’t appear, but I noticed he was using his server “secure connections required”, mine is set as “preferred”, because my server vanishes when I use secure required, I had a hell of a time setting it back to preferred. I also have TLS off, GDM on, and relay enabled.

I watch on Apple TV Player 8.45 (9684), 1st Gen ATV 4K. I used to get Testflight Betas, but they discontinued for ATV, or at least my ATV. I also use my iPad, iPhone and occasionally my laptop, I used my laptop in the hospital using only my iPhone T-Mobile hotspot, the connection to my home was perfect and I only had a few disconnects, and I used these settings back then, except “WAN as LAN” was off. Seems to me it should be on. Off or On?

Thanks.

It should not. This is merely intended as a workaround, in case your router is handling DNS and/or NAT not quite as it should. In which case even your local clients are using the public/remote address of your server.
If all works well when it’s off, there is no need to switch it on.
If it’s on, the server cannot properly distinguish between remote and local playback anymore, so it won’t apply bandwidth restrictions for remote connections properly.

Great, thanks. It always seemed to have the secondary effect of doubling my usage, which was why I have kept it turned off.

i’ve never had any trouble connecting when away from home.
