I have tried everything mentioned in the forums, help files, FAQs, etc. My Galaxy S23+ Plex app on Android 14 continues to show the PC server as “offline.” Everything on my Plex web pages are fully functional. No problems. I am hoping to get a solution in layman’s terms. Many thanks.
My app refuses to connect when I’m on the the same wifi network that my server is on, it only happens on my android
This is unfortunate. There may actually be a solution by someone in the forums, but I have not been able to find one. Most of the suggested fixes are complicated and confusing, and beyond the scope of most regular users, like me. Forums failing, I will take this directly to Plex support and see what happens, then come back to this post.
That was quick. There is no technical support offered online, even for Plex Pass members. Here it is: “We’re unable to offer technical support by email. For help with issues you may be experiencing, we have a detailed support library, answers to common questions, friendly forums, and more.”
Since there is no help offered by any of the suggested resources, I guess we are out of luck until a solid solution is offered somewhere. If I have missed that “solid solution” somehow, please let me know. I would appreciate it.
And I don’t know what “… and more.” means.
I had the same problem and spent an hour troubleshooting it. I was finally able to get it to connect and all it took was me disabling my VPN. Not sure if you are using a VPN but that was somehow impacting the connection. I have always been able to use my VPN before. I hope this helps you.
Thanks for the VPN tip. I don’t use a VPN. However, I just re-installed the Plex app after having uninstalled it several weeks ago, and the Android app works. I’ll buy that for a dollar.
glad I’m not alone on this one.
I have plex installed through docker and it was a smooth transition (everything works great on the web) until I opened my Android and THIS - it seems stuck to wanting to connect to the identity of my old server and not recognizing that it is the same machine, same IP address, same port, just a new install.
I’ve given PLEX so many chances it’s not even funny. I thought I was going to transition to Emby but been fumbling with this too. I think I’m done with closed-source and going to Jellyfin and be fine with barebones functionality - it’s decent for what it is!
I’d like to know how to “unassociate” my old server and have the Android app connect to my new server (again, on the same IP and ports)
Ok, I’ve been browsing the forums, Reddit and Google for a solution for this. I’ve tried every configuration, temporary solution and setting described everywhere, and still my server appears offline. HELLO PLEX STAFF MEMBERS: we need a solution for this. I have seen posts here in this forum from as far back as 2019!
My environment is Docker (EDIT: on Linux) and everything is up to date, EDIT: including my phone’s app.
EDIT: My firewall is disabled and I only use the app at home.
Also: Plexamp can’t find the server either!
@BigWheel HELP!
EDIT: I just tried pinging from my phone to my server and vice-versa. Both pinged fine. I can still access app.plex.tv from my phone browser, but it looks horrible!
Need to see your android logs to see how it is trying to connect to your server to start
Here you go:
Manufacturer: Blackview
Device: BV9200
Model: BV9200
Product: BV9200
Version: 12
Description of issue: Android Plex app says my server is offline, but every other app I go to I can watch everything, including LG TV, Roku Express, plex.tv. Have cleared cache and even deleted the app. Nothing seems to solve this. Have browsed Google, Reddit and the forums for a solution, executed every solution I found and nothing changes the OFFLINE for my server.

You appear to have two servers both named RED is that correct? Is there only supposed to be one?
Do you see them both listed in https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/settings/devices/pms ?
Nope. I only see one.
Your account shows a server on Docker with 3 libraries and another on Debian ( installed via SNAP) with 4 libraries. Can you tell me which is correct? I’m guessing the Docker one since it seems more recent but wanted to make sure. I was going to delete the record of the unused Debian one from account in case that is what is causing issue ( if you are ok with that).
It’s one of the most frustrating things about Plex, is Pass users not having any level of support, even if it takes days to get a reply.
I was running into the same issue but I found a solution in my case that might help others.
My setup, I have Plex running on TrueNAS Scale, which runs Apps on a Kubernetes Cluster (Docker).
I was able to access the web portal via browsers on any devices, but Apps would not work.
Turns out, I needed to enable the app to bind to Host Network and started working.
My guess, is that for the apps to work, they need to be able to communicate via the GDM ports.
I really wish we could map servers manually on apps.
