Trouble Transcoding (Decoder error: 121)

MUCH better.

Now you know the table size is 512K directories max (more than enough)

Okay great! So what do I do with this information? I haven’t made any edits to the server until just barely, to which I have just undone it, and I still am experiencing issues with the transcoding.

I’ve been trying for 2+ weeks now to make a bootable unraid thumb drive and can’t.
I think the biggest problem is I have Windows 10 in a VM and somehow, the unraid installer doesn’t like that.

If I could get an unraid VM, i’d do it but — :man_shrugging:

I’m having a little trouble understanding your response. I’ve really appreciated the help you’ve provided me thus far, but I’ll need a little more help. Thanks again.

I’m trying to setup Unraid so I can try to replicate the problem you’re seeing.

If I have unraid, I can see what you see.
When I can see PMS the way you do, I’ll be better able to understand and HOPEFULLY figure out why you’re having this problem.

I don’t know if this is a problem with your installation or unraid.
I need to figure that part out because we support Docker, but not unraid.
Something is misbehaving.

I hope you are able to figure that out so you are able to help me. With how much you’ve helped me so far I wish I could return the favor, but you’re obviously more well versed in this area than I am. I feel like it’s got to do with my transcode path I’ve setup. From the logs you showed me it said that there was no space left to transcode, but the thing is I’ve tried changing from RAM, to SSD to just my array and it still brings up these errors. Although, when I delete the path I added to the container for transcoding Plex no longer loads so I have to change it to either SSD or RAM which is weird, but that’s another problem for another day.

May I impose to ask if you can make a new bootable thumbdrive and then make an ISO of it so I can put it on my thumb drive?

Do you have those kind of tools at hand?

I’m not entirely sure how to do it, but if you walk me through it I can give it a try! I have a couple of thumb drives I can use.

it’s ok… It’s quite the ordeal if you’ve not done it before.
Thanks again.

I’ll keep working on this on my end

Thank you so much for your help. I hope you’re able to accomplish what you’re trying to do so we can get this thing figured out!

I don’t have an official answer for you but did discover.

  1. The same error occurs with PMS 1.30.0 on Ubuntu
  2. My temporary recommendation is to downgrade to 1.29.2 until Engineering has had an opportunity to investigate and resolve.

Good to know. I’ll go ahead and downgrade, but is there a proper way of going about doing that?

All you need do is uninstall the package.

On DSM 6, the only action is to keep your data.
On DSM 7, you have the option to remove it. Obviously, you want the default “KEEP” option

When you install the lower version, PMS will readjust

I have since downgraded and it’s working flawlessly. I hope that you guys are able to figure out what’s going on. Again, thank you for all of your help @ChuckPa, it’s never easy dealing with a situation like this and I appreciate your quick responses.

can you make a small sample of the file enough to demonstrate the problem?

I would like to submit the sample with a new trouble ticket to Engineering.

I can’t at the moment, but later today I’ll get a sample of that file. It is a 4K MKV file. Will that be okay?

That will be fine thanks. I’m fully 4K-capable here.

I am also affected by this. Downgrading from 1.30.0.6442 to 1.29.2.6364 fixed the issue. I am running PMS on Arch Linux. If there is any info I can collect to help diagnose, please let me know.

Im also affected by this. I will downgrade and see

MAY I GET A SAMPLE PLEASE???

I need something which I can use to replicate the problem and give to the transcoder team.
