First time NAS user, so please bear with me. This may be a stupid question.
Im about to set up Plex on my new NAS and I have located the app in Synologys package center.
I have also found instructions here on this site on how to install it directly from Plex.
Are there any benefits of choosing one over the other?
Choosing the one from Plex and “Manual Install” it gives you more recent software.
Synology only updates when there is a reason.

So to be clear, the app from the synology package center can not download updates directly from Plex?
Allright thanks. Im new to running Plex on anything other than Windows and Mac. I thought that orange dowload/install button would point to Plex’ own servers no matter where you had gotten the software originally.
Thanks to both of you for the guidance!
Thanks man! Really appreciate it.
It took me hours to figure out how to set up an SHR volume on this thing which was a little frustrating, but from here on out it looks like things will go a little smoother!
Thanks again for the support!

To that end, you are advised to download Plex directly from Plex Downloads and then manually install the downloaded package in Package Center > Manual Install (top right of window).
This is the best method of keeping Plex up to date.
I have a follow-up question.
Are there no auto updates? When I choose update now it downloads the file on my Mac, rather than just doing its thing.
Allright!
Thanks for explaining. And the link.
