Been trying to set up my mac mini OS Sierra 10.12..6, Plex appears to install ok, but when runs it stops at app.plex.tv screen, no log in page nothing, have uninstalled and rebooted multiple times but still with the same result. I am not logged in to any plex apps anywhere.

What am I missing?

Can you open http://127.0.0.1:32400/web in a browser on that machine?

Plex Media Server for MacOS requires OS X 10.13 High Sierra or newer

They’re using an ancient version of PMS which predates the bump of the minimum macOS version.

Ancient version = no support. No?

It probably should still be running on the even older version of macOS.
That being said, there could obviously be some inconsistencies with the current Plex backend that’s causing trouble with some steps of the setup (wild guess). Hence the question how they’re accessing the server and if it’s running or not.

Hi, yes that takes me to the same splash screen. i did briefly have a screen telling me about and unclaimed server, but when I entered my credentials I had an error message, about unable to log in at this time pop up. Ive not been able to recreate that.

Could be that as someone has stated, the OS is just not up to handling the job. I was looking for alternatives to Apple TV.

Could be some issue with the local web app failings communicate with Plex‘s backend. This can be caused by a bad DNS server or restrictions in your system.

I don’t remember the specific data privacy options in macOS 10.12 (those have changed quite a bit over the recent releases). Checking those for possible restrictions to Plex communications might also help.
