TS 453Be HD Station Plex no Passthrough to Denon

Server Version#: latest new downloads
Player Version#: latest new download
Hi, I just installed Plex on my QNAP TS-453Be HD Station. I can get the video to play, but I can’t get audio via Passthrough to my Denon? When I go through the audio settings the Denon does not show up as an option, only the basic audio from the NAS. Also, the video playback is in permanent fast forward and even a restart or starting a new movie doesn’t stop it? Any ideas?
Oh, I should mention that Kodi works fine on this system, no issues with sound or video. I’d prefer to continue to use it but it is an alpha version 18 from “fathermande” who is no longer updating it. There is no other version I can use without updating to HD station 4 which the TS-453 refuses to install. Thanks

We don’t make a version of Plex Media Player for QNAP. I’m not clear which of our player apps you are referring to.

QNAP certainly has access to it, I installed it from the Apps section “Plex Media Server 1.15.3 and Plex Home Theater v1.4.2.100” Both say Developed and supported by Plex and downloaded from Plex.com. Either way it goes, someone must have it working on their system, there must be a way to get it to see the Denon as a Passthrough device? The permanantltly stuck in FF issue is very annoying too. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling both the Media server and the home theater apps to no avail. Need help please.

It was was a port of XBMC/Kodi. We discontinued Plex Home Theater in 2015. There are folks here who use OpenPHT was was a port of PHT that. but i dunno if that still works either.

As far as i recall like Kodi you need to tell it that it is connected via HDMI are and the type of audio system 5.1, 7.1 etc. and more options become available. like if your receiver supports DTS for example

Yeah, I did all that, I’m used to working with Kodi so I’m familiar with that sort of setup and Plex is similar. The Plex apps in the Apps section of the NAS should work out of the box and be supported, so I need to know why they aren’t working and how to fix it. As much as I prefer to use Kodi, the version I’m using is an alpha build and Kodi isn’t supported. No doubt it will be superseded soon too, so an alternative would be good. BTW, I tried Emby and it sucked!

Thanks for the help BigWwheel, Qap support finally got back to me and apparently the TS-453 will get HD Station updated to 4.0 so I will be able to update Kodi to the latest stable release from the QNAP Club. When they will update is another question. Still don’t understand why Plex is locked into FF or why it can’t find my Denon AV, but at least I can still use the Alpha of Kodi Leia in the mean time.
