Turn off Automatic collections

I want to use collections but I want use only my own. I have “Use Collection info from The Movie Database” unchecked. I spend hours creating collections. I go to bed, come back the next day, and there are hundreds of collections that I didn’t create and I don’t want.

How do I stop it from doing this?

In the agent settings, click on Plex Movie then on the right side of the row for it click the gear. when the window opens uncheck “use collection info from the themoviedatabase”

if you are using the movie database for your main agent then do it to that too.
these will effect all libraries

or you can do it from an individual library edit if you only want that library not to have them

All of this is unchecked.

The only other way they can be created is if you have MP4s with an “Album” tag set in their embedded metadata.

If you don’t remove the tag from the individual files then you can also turn off local media assets in agents but this will also prevent things like side car/external subtitles and images from being picked up if you have them.

I am guessing that over night this scheduled task ran and picked up the local assets
Refresh local metadata every three days so you can disable that.

(edit the other one Refresh metadata periodically is just for music)

I don’t use plex for music. I have all this turned off and it just created two new collections all by itself after I deleted them all. None of the movies in the collection are mp4. They are all mkv files.

I want this to stop.

I just added another one and it created a collection just for one movie.

can you look up the XML for that movie and post it in here. it will show which agent is being used. (get info>view XML)

it is likely embedded metadata so i would turn off local media assets and add another file. jist to be sure. if you re-add an existing file, after disabling local media assets, do this with it. The Plex Dance ™
