Hi there, first off I’m having a really great time with my server Plex so thank you for that
I have an issue with the auto generation of collections in all my libraries. Plex keeps generating unwanted collections based on differents agents I suppose but all the settings about collections are OFF. Here’s my settings (EDIT: since I couldn’t make the import to properly work, I’ve made a Imgur with the screenshots of the settings. You can access it here.)
Am I missing something here ? Because I don’t really know what I can do after that and even cache and DDB cleaning don’t do anything about my issue
Are your movies in mp4/m4v Format?
If so… have you checked the file Meta Data? With local media assets enabled, Plex will use the album tag to associate the movie to a collection with the album name…
All my files are mkv format. However, what is the purpose of the agent Local Media ? Can I disable it ? If it may be related to the creation of the collection, I could deativate it
Local Media Assets refers to all the local files you might want Plex to consider when loading your media… ranging from posters / backdrops to local trailers or other extras.
It’ll only cause collections to be created in combination with mp4/m4v files and an embedded album tag.
I see, thank you for the information. But I’ve double checked and I do not own any metadata files or local files with my MKV or in their forlders, so unfortunately I think that it isn’t being generated from Local Media Assets.
Sorry for misleading you but I want to keep my collections (the ones that I create myself). By disabling that, all collections disappear. I only want to stop Plex generating collections not created by myself.
Thanks for your answer @trumpy81
However, these settings are already disabled in my agents settings but Plex keeps generating collections
By the way, do you know a way to trigger the Plex generation of collections ?
With that, I could see if a solution actually worked without waiting for the regeneration of collections and I could also provide you correct informations about the changes of my librairies
I can’t disable totally these agents, they are unselectable. As for their settings “Use collection info from The Movie Database” is already disable but this doesn’t prevent it from generating collections.
I will check my files with MKVToolNix in the end of the day. But I don’t think any of them will have a Album metadata.
And I did not created this collection. This one has been generated by agents.
I use myself many collections, but I only want the ones that I created like you said
I want the agents to stop creating theses collections and writing in this field.
Unfortunately I’ve never installed any third party software or plugins for Plex
I don’t know what might be causing this too, this issue follow me for while and I have tried to fix it many times, unfortunately without success
I really don’t want to reinstall my Plex if possible
I’m not currently at home, I would be at it in 1 hour or 2 I think. But I can access my NAS from here, and I can uninstall and reinstall Plex if needed. Should I begin the operation ?
Oh thanks for the advice, I could have done something unwanted here… I’ll wait to be at home and recheck my settings on the “local” Plex that I have. I’ll respond to this thread when I have more info tonight
Thanks for your time
So, I checked my settings and agents settings on my local adress port 32400 and everything is also disabled and saved.
I will post something on Reddit to see if anyone ever had something similar to my situation, maybe I missing something from all of this…
