I’m very disappointed in the TV Butler DVB-T/T2/C Stick.
I received it today and it doesn’t work at all as advertised.
I tried the Antenna and the DVB-C Signal (which works perfectly with my eyeTV Stick) and did not get the full range of Channels (sometimes even no channels at all) neither with the TV Mosaic App nor with the Plex Server (for which I bought it). (Using any of the methods described). Very often I got a “protected” sign for channels that should be open (and are on my eyeTV stick).
It’s a catastrophe to set up and a nightmare to debug.
It’s a pity that eyeTV doesn’t work with Plex because it’s miles ahead of TV Butler in convenience, ease of use and quality.
Hi
I got a similar problem with TV Butler stick and Plex on an iMac
I cant upgrade my Mac beyond where it is now (meaning I cant use TV Mosaic software so have to use its predecessor DVBLink
Using DVBLink I can tune in the full range of Freeview Channels in the UK
When I try to use Plex to tune in, the TV Butler stick gets found by Plex but no matter how many times I scan, Plex doesnt find any channels at all
I also have the same problem with a Hauppage TV Stick (supported) on a Windows Plex server - it finds a few channels but not the full range.
Suffice to say there is a good TV signal and the fact that on the Windows device Win TV8.5 software works perfectly and on Mac DVBLink works perfectly as well.
The problem seems to be in Plex
Any advice gratefully received
I have to revise my statement a bit…
DVBLogic support was extremely fast, extremely good and got it to work. TVMosaic now runs beautifully on my Mac (AppleTV, iPad, iPhone).
I agree, it seems to be Plex. No matter what I do (I even updated the scanner xml files within the Plex Media Server app because they did not seem to be correct) - even a full frequency scan does not give me anything.
I’m really disappointed in Plex here (I’m a Plex Pass Holder) and I would expect more responsiveness and thoroughness to get something running (especially if it’s a device that is supported like the TVButler).
Not happy with Plex here…
Hi
Glad it is working for you
It is not a DVB Logic problem.
It is for sure Plex
I have a similar problem using a supported Hauppage TV Stick on a Windows device where it works perfectly with the software that came with the stick but Plex doesn’t find any more than 9 channels (and that’s even with the Hauppage uninstalled which was a recommendation to try)
Have had no response from them
Thanks and regards
Chris
That’s really disappointing… was hoping more responsiveness from Plex… :s :’(
Hi!
same to me. TVButler and Mosaic work as expected on TVOS, Android, iOS and so on. DVBLogic support is fantastic. Very fast and all the time useful, willing to help.
No answers from Plex Team about disfunction of Live TV within Plex and an official supported device.
Very sad…

Hi,
I ve the same problem with TVBUTLER and DVR Plex. With Mosaic work well on Android or Windows Computer but when I try search channels on DVR PLEX, no channels found. The device is detected as compatible device but not found any channel.
Any solution?
Thanks
Alex
Hi
I have not tried this yet but someone suggested deleting the mosaic software and trying tuning with just plex
Thanks and regards
Chris

Hi
I raise this again because as a PLEX passholder I am very disappointed and frustrated about Live TV on a mac.
I have a mac.
It is an early 2008 and is running the latest possible version for such a machine (OS X El Capitan v 10.11.6)
It has 4GB of RAM
It is running PMS Version 1.13.8.5395 which is the latest version
I purchased a TV Butler stick, a supported device by plex
The problem - despite a strong TV signal (see my various attempts to narrow down the problem below), Plex NEVER finds any channels despite doing a full UK frequency dearch (I live in the South of the UK and know my nearest transmitter to be Crystal palace). When I go into setup for Live TV and PVR from PMS main menu it finds the stick so it certainly knows about it)
Here is what I have tried
- tried a different not supported by PMS TV stick (a device by August) - worked perfectly
*tried plugging a TV into the ariel to ensure I had a good signal (I did, tuned in all the channels I expected)
-
Installing the DVBLink software from TV Butler themselves (it can’t run their latest software called Mosaic as it needs a later version of MacOs) and it works great, so its not a fault with the TV stick
-
I removed the DVBLink software from the Mac as some original responses said that plex server needed to be fully in control of the stick. So despite (I think) removing the DVBLink software and rebooting the mac, plex still cannot find any channels on a full scan of the entire UK frequency list.
-
Installed the TV stick on a windows based machine running PMS and it tuned in all channels perfectly using the same aerial and signal strength that fails to find any channels on the mac
My conclusion is that I dont have a weak signal, nor a defective TV Stick, nor a defective Mac
What I do have is high frustration that on a working and supported TV stick on a working and supported Mac PMS doesnt find any channels
Please Please Please can someone (preferably from PLEX) help.
I have tried all the forum stuff and other than removing TV Butlers own software there doesnt seem to be any solution. I even spoke to TV Butler support who were unable to offer any help (other than to say - correctly - if it was working with their software on a Mac, and with both their software AND plex server on a windows machine, its likely to be something about PMS on my mac)
Thanks
