TV Can play MKV but Plex Transcodes - No Direct Play

I have a Hisense TV. When I use plex to play a movie it is constantly transcoding and as a result very laggy, but if I use the TV and browse to the Plex server as a DLNA Server, I can play the movie file without any issue and the quality is perfect.

Why is Plex forcing itself to transcode when it does not need to. It should be just doing direct play.

Is there a way to force this to happen?

Let’s have you gather some Log Files as described in the article.

the TV must be able to play video, audio and subtitle codecs or it will transcode. My guess is that it can’t play the audio or subtitles.

Sounds reasonable. Is it shown that the TV can handle all the tracks when it plays the same video directly through DLNA?
