TV Channels dont match EPG or tuner (UK)

Server Version#: 1.25.3.5385
Tuner Make/Model: HDHomeRun Connect Quatro
Guide/Lineup name: n/a
Using XMLTV?: No
Channel number/Name: Lots

Hi All

Hopefully someone can help… recently we noticed some of the channels on the EPG didnt match when viewed. E.g. when you select Pick (ch 36) from the guide you actually get ITV+1 (ch 35), if you select QBeauty (ch 37) from the guide you are actually watching Pick (ch 36) - as you can see thet are all 1 channel out.

I quickly realised that after a recent channel addition on UK Freeview (BBC Three - ch 23) everything is out of sync.

According to the Freeview website all channels between 23 and 82 will be moving up 1 on 26th January 2022 except ch 23 which increased by 2 to ch 25. So it looks like Plex is using the old channel numbers on the new assignment - hence everything is 1 out.

I am using the HDHomeRun Connect Quatro tuner;
Model: HDHR5-4DT
Firmware: 20220128

To see if the tuner was at fault I installed the Silicondust HDHomeRun Viewer (which I have never used before) and when I viewed the channel listings it was all correct and the channels play properly… so I am sure its not the tuner at fault.

The only thing I can think of is some sort of caching in Plex where it wont recognise the new channel listing order… I tried to manually match channels and that doesnt seem to work - e.g. ch 23 (the new BBC Three) is not listed at all… so I manually matched it and refreshed the guide but it is still not listed… in fact all the channels above the change (i.e. ch 23+) seem to be not showing in the channel matching;

I have also tried re-scanning the channels in Plex and still have the same issues :frowning:

Anyway, can anyone offer any advice even if its how to delete the current tuner, clear any cache and re-install the tuner then I’d be very grateful.

I have the exact same issue, hdhomerun duo, I’ve just been through the standard steps much like yourself, guide is correct on native homerun app, I’ve cleared cache in plex, and cleared data, re scanned, still it goes to bbc three when I choose dave plus 1 lol…

I would imagine we aren’t the only folks out there, plex forums for the win, let’s make something happen people…

Unlike my last forum thread… (plex crashes when skipping episodes) still no permanent fix for that, but a work around was figured out.

Maybe someone out there has a little trick up their sleeve!

:slight_smile:

I’ve just read another post, which suggests completely deleting your tv/dvr from plex and re adding it from scratch, someone said that worked for them, I’ll try that tomorrow, I’m in bed now, but that could be a potential fix.

I’ll let you know/you let me know!

Thanks @noeljameslangstaff_gmail_com that was the next step I was going to try - or even to install a fresh instance of Plex Server in an Ubuntu VM and starting again!

Hopefully I’ll get a chance to try deleting the DVR and setting up a new one tomorrow - if I get this done before you I’ll post the results up here so you know how it went :wink:

Having the same issue… I’m trying to view/record 11.1 NBC (Olympics) but Plex keeps tuning to 7.1 ABC instead. Removed and re-added the HDHomeRun Dual, still same problem.

When I click on 7.1 in the guide it can’t show anything. There must be some snafu in the channels listings that Plex can’t figure out.

The Channels Apple TV app does properly tune in 11.1 NBC when I select it on the same HDHomeRun device.

Very infuriating.

Edit: I had Plex refresh the channel list of the device itself and it seemed to do better, it shows 11.1 NBC now. This list did not automatically refresh when removing the device from Plex!

@SliMat I have just deleted and re-setup my hdhomerun, I can confirm (for me at least) that bbc 3 shows up and the channels are correctly ordered. :slight_smile:

Hope that works for you…

@gnguyen_1 I’m not sure what to suggest dude…

Did you fully rescan your homerun on the native app first??

Thanks @noeljameslangstaff_gmail_com - I have just deleted my DVR and recreated it and I can confirm that all the channels work correctly again… the reason I didnt want to do this is because we have a lot of scheduled recordings and I didnt want to have to recreate all these… but I was pleasantly surprised that they were still showing on the new DVR :wink:

Thanks for the pointer
