What happened to the Alpha listings of the movies and tv shows

Did they move the alphabetical listing of the TV shows and Movies in one of the last Plex updates? I was used to a UI page listing all the upcoming shows as thumbnails but as of late I only can access the channel view within the LiveTV/DVR feature. The missing alphabetical list allowed me to peruse shows beyond the week at a time that the channel view does.

What plex app are you seeing this?

More information about your setup would be helpful

Running Plex 4.8.4 server on the nVidia Shield, accessing the features over my LAN using my PC, logged in as Admin-user. I have the Lifetime-Plex Pass so I have the Live TV / DVR feature to record OTA broadcast.

In the past there was a UI view to see thumbnails of all upcoming OTA movies or a UI view to see all the TV shows listed alphabetically. Recently I have noticed I only get the Channel View of the OTA broadcasts within the UI Live TV window. The only other option, after Recommended, is Guide and DVR Schedule. Guide has a pop-up to filter the Channels for HD-only and we are stuck in Channels, no alphabetical thumbnails to peruse for recording.

My question: did they eliminate the Alphabetical view or is that feature still available after the latest server update?

I believe it’s only temporarily missing and will be returning; and if so, I don’t have any kind of ETA.

The ability to view all TV Shows airing during the period of the current EPG data is no longer present in the new web UI. There’s a feature request to bring it back:
https://forums.plex.tv/t/uno-upcoming-shows-in-live-tv-dvr/477719

Note: You can still view all upcoming movies, sports, and news via Live TV & DVR → Recommended and selecting the UPCOMING MOVIES, UPCOMING SPORTS, and UPCOMING NEWS links.

Ah, that’s very good news; I wasn’t aware that it’s absence had been acknowledged.

I really miss the alphabetical thumbnails because that view gave a broad view of what is coming. The present UI is a knothole view like the original 64k Macintosh used with that ubiquitous wristwatch cursor. Thanks for the suggestion that maybe a Plex update will restore the TV shows/Movies alphabetically.

Thank you for the lead! I’ve noticed that if you follow the path above (Live TV & DVR -> Recommended and selecting the UPCOMING MOVIES) and click any movie, on the right is a link Film. Click this and then the listing we’ve been looking for comes up for the next two weeks. You can sort the listings by date or alphabetical.

I hope I understand what you all are saying. The way I describe it is under the old UI when selecting Live TV & DVR there was a way to see a full page of thumbnails for Live TV & DVR, Movies, News, Shows, Sports using the Channels dropdown like so:

Selected Movies under Channels:

With the new UI, the Channels dropdown is gone:

If this is what you’re discussing, then the workaround discussed is insufficient because it doesn’t indicate which videos are scheduled for recording. With the workaround of Live TV & DVR → Recommended and selecting the UPCOMING MOVIES you can indeed see an entire page of thumbnails but you can’t see that (for example) ‘A Kiss Before Dying’ is scheduled to record:

This clearly makes selecting videos to record very difficult.

I bring all this up so that it’s clear that the workaround won’t do. Unless, of course, I’m on the wrong track or missing something. BTW the reason I’m able to see the old way is I have a Plex server I use strictly for recording, and it’s frozen at 1.6.0.1226.

You might think a confounding factor may be that I’m showing one server with the old UI that properly shows which videos are scheduled and another server to demonstrate a failure. Except it’s not. If you select a video to record with the workaround on a current server, there will be no obvious indication it will be recorded (namely the red target in the center or upper right).

Thanks,
Mark M
