Plex Server is on my Intel Win 10 NUC. Plex Player is the Shield app. Both the NUC and Shield are Ethernet connected to my home network. I have a TV Shows and Movies folder on the Win 10 desktop. I also use Sonarr, Radarr and SABnzbd on the Win 10 NUC. Everything works great except the Shield Plex
When I go to Plex on the NUC all movies and TV shows are showing in Home and their respective libraries. If I go to the Plex player on my Shield most of the time they’ll show up in Home and can be played but the Movies and TV Shows libraries are empty. Sometimes, though, after a reboot they’ll all show up briefly then disappear if I go out and come back in. Does the Plex app not see the folders on my desktop? I’ve had this set up for a couple of years but only lately is stuff missing
I’ve looked in the Shield Plex to see if it points to the correct folders but don’t see where that option is. Then sometimes it sees them only to have them go missing. I could provide logs if that would help. In fact any help would be greatly appreciated.
So some of your full library content disappears? That is odd.
I am experiencing a similar issue as well on my Shield, but it recently started happening. I had to fiddle with Plex Web Local Host by clearing the home , disable automatic & un-sync Plex Web in settings… setup my on deck list the way I want it there, then resync. Restarted The Shield Plex, and boom the Home on deck items were all back the way I set them up. This was a temporary fix for a while, but yes the issue remains… missing items…
as some of the shows in the same on deck row on the Shield, again started to disappear and reappear randomly as if there’s a glitch in the sync processing between the Shield Device Plex-and the Plex Web host.
Yes, most times my TV shows and movies show up in Home but sometimes, like right now, movies are missing. Other times everything is in Home but the libraries show as empty. I’ve gone through and restored everything to default but nothing changed. I normally only have TV shows and movies ticked as I’m not interested in all the other options.
I can go into Plex on my NUC and watch stuff it’s so much more convenient to have it all (Netflix, Prime, BBC iPlayer, etc) in one place on my Shield.
Maybe it’s the Plex app on the Shield? I guess I’ll keep poking around and perhaps I’ll stumble on the fix. That’s usually the way it works.
Yes, could be but I’m not sure where I’d go to find that. The app settings don’t seem to have a way to point it to the library folders or at least I can’t find it. I’m not sure logs would help but in any case I can’t find them in the Plex Shield app. Would logs from Plex Server help?
Well, your suggestion to disable IPv6 seems to have fixed it. Everything else was already set as you suggested and I’m not using the server on the Shield.
Yes using Shield as Server. Tried the suggestion, it worked temporarily, then the on deck TV show started to disappear sporadically again. How should the Local Host Web Plex player home settings be configured…ie automatic or manual, sync or off? Not sure what is going on.
I think you have a different issue. Are you using a custom home? (editing the hubs on the home screen). There is a known issue with OnDeck in custom home.
Well the fix worked for about 24 hours but now my problem is a bit different.
I have a “TV Shows” and a “Movies” library. Last night I deleted the only movie I had in the “Movies” library. This morning I look and all my TV shows are showing the “Movies” library and there’s nothing showing in the “TV Shows” library. I think the positions of the two libraries in the left hand panel have swapped If that means anything (I might be wrong).
Everything is correct on Plex Server on my NUC. What’s up with the Plex app on Shield? Where should I look to fix it?
