TV Programs won't show under TV Shows, just under Movies

I recently discovered Plex and think it’s great. However, I came upon a disconnect I can’t figure out.
I have several National Geographic DVDs. They’re all TV Specials. The first one I loaded up under TV shows didn’t have a match in TMDB or TVDB so I manually entered the info in the TV Shows area of the Plex windows app and everything was good.
Not so much for the next two. Neither would show up in TV Shows even though my file naming and folder naming conventions are correct for TV shows. They do show up in the TMDB (not TVDB) listed as movies and they both will show up in Plex if I place them in the Movies folder.
I’d rather have all the TV content show up in the TV Shows area of Plex. Is there some way to manually force that to happen?

how are your files names. if they are showing up in a movie library then it indicates it does not have season & episode notation. Movie libraries ignore things with the notation and tv libraries will ignore things without.

specials should be put in a season 00

I have the exact naming convention you list in your example, but it WOULD NOT show up in the TV Shows section. It would show up in the Movie section if I stripped out all the TV show season/episode info in the file naming.

Here’s a strange twist. One of the TV Specials I copied to a new folder in the TV Shows folder and for the underlying folder and file names I only entered the first letters of each word in the actual names yet maintained the correct Season/episode conventions.

It showed up, of course with no poster art (which I expected it to do). I scanned in the DVD cover image and uploaded it into the entry. So far, so good. I next stepped through each level of the folders and file names changing each one at a time, back to the correct names. I verified the program still showed up and the file info had been correctly updated with each change.

One of the TV shows now correctly shows in the TV Shows section with all the correct info (the same naming and info I originally tried, but Plex refused to recognize).

I tried the same scheme with the next TV show, but could not replicate.

So confused.
