TV Series DVD Special Features / Extras (Behind The Scenes, Interviews, Trailers etc..)

Yes please, I would love a “real” way to add in deleted scenes for TV shows and Seasons for shows.

Please, for the love of all… just add this already.

It’s not like it’d be that difficult to do; you already have the same code/agent for movies.

There’s also GitHub - contrary-cat/LocalTVExtras.bundle: Local TV Extras Agent for Plex, but it doesn’t work with non web clients :frowning:

I wanted to keep DVD Extras available with the appropriate seasons. What I did that worked is I just added them as an additional episode in the same folder. Say season 2 has 22 episodes and there are outtakes on the season’s DVD. The last official episode is S02E22. I then made the outtakes S02E23.
My file structure is as follows:

TV Show Name/
…Season 2/
…TV Show Name S02E01 First Episode Title.mkv
.
.
.
…TV Show Name S02E22 Last Episode Title.mkv
…TV Show Name S02E23 Outtakes.mkv

Plex will name the extra episode “Episode 23” I just then went in and edited the title to “Season 2 Outtakes” This way, the outtakes don’t have to be in a separate season folder. They are organized with the appropriate season, which is great if each season of the show has Outtakes or other DVD extras related to the specific season. It only takes a few seconds to edit the title. This way you don’t have to go searching around to a different folder when you want to watch the extras for Season 2.

Thanks to the helpful people in the local TV extras thread, the extras added by the agent have been confirmed to work on Plex Media Player (for Show extras), Roku (Show and Season), iOS (Episode only), Plex for Kodi (Show and Season) and Android (Show, Season and Episode) in addition to the web client (Show extras only).

The official Apple TV client doesn’t support any TV extras (which is a disappointment to me), but a lot of other clients work on at least a minimal level.

There is already server support for extras to be linked to TV Shows, Seasons and Episodes – so my hope is that Plex plan to update their clients to display and play them at all three levels as the Android client currently does.

Although, if I had to pick one to update first, it would be to enable extras linked to seasons and episodes on the web client, since that is the experience common to everyone, plus it would make it so much easier to check if they’re being added correctly  @elan if you’re listening?

Listening, and will pass along.

Not working for me at all. Renamed file and placed file in proper directory (on a Mac). Restarted server. Checked and saw it showed up under shows in Agents. I have it set up as follows: Personal media shows, Local media assets, Local tv extra agent. Added Subdirectories with “,” between (no spaces). Restarted server. All extras in folder named “Extras”. Ran Scan on TV Show Folder as well as individual show. Nothing shows up.

Bump
Please provide bonus features for TV shows

bump - another ask for this feature. I can get them to show up if I add S01E101 … for example but it will not display the name I have following ‘outtakes’, ‘deleted scenes’ etc. I’ll use any naming convention you like if it would just read the description I use following the ‘-’

Bump. This would be a very useful feature. It’s already a thing for movies so why not add it for TV shows too?

I can just toss them into Season 0 but then I have to edit the metadata manually and that takes a while.

Would love to see this feature implemented. Some new shows just got released on disc and they have some fun features I’d like to load in easily.

I would also love to see this as a feature, thanks!

As with everyone else, I’ve been waiting a decade for this and am still waiting. The movies Extras works really well. Why not implement it for TV shows. Yes, we could manually edit in Plex, but I use the same files and file structure to feed Plex at home and plex at the cottage. I don’t want to have to manually edit these all the time when Plex could easily add this functionality as they have done with movies. I still wait for this. Otherwise very happy with Plex’s updates of Roku of late.

My longstanding ‘interim’ solution is to just have an EXTRAS library, set up like a home movie library and I view it by folder. When doing this the file names are picked up by Plex. An ugly kludge, but at least I don’t have to manually edit anything. I also have Actor and Director Extras (eg: I have a whole bunch of mini-features about Alfred Hitchcock) in this structure as there is no way to add extras about them.

Upvote for this feature.

I would like to see something like this for personal media files (not just TV and Movies categories)

That’s one thing I loved about Kodi - the ability to tweak how Media is organized.

Since most users of Plex are somewhat computer savvy, opening up additional organizational options either through a basic database editor or via extra tags would be great.

Just ran into this while ripping my tv series dvd’s to plex. Please enable the extras like you have for movies.

Add me to the list of people patiently waiting for this feature. (Perhaps not so patiently)

I also rip Doctor Who, but I have the early ones as well. So my first entry is “Doctor Who (1963) - Series 1”. It would be nice if Plex could separate a series from a season–even if I have to precede them with a counter (e.g., “01) Doctor Who - Series 1”).

This seems like an insanely simple thing. The code for this already exists for movies, why has this languished for years to toggle a flag to make TV shows support it?

It wouldn’t be as simple as toggling a switch. They would need to design the interface and code for it to work at multiple levels. The singular layout for a movie is different than the three tier layout for TV shows.

I agree though that it should have been done long before now, along with management for multiple cuts of movies, searching the “guest star” metadata on TV shows, and “favoriting” TV channels in the EPG to bring them to the top of the list.
