I am adding multiple tv and anime series to my plex server, both set to TV Shows. The files are in the standard format ‘title of series here’ S__E__ - Name of episode’, every single one of them. When I’m adding them to their respective libraries, instead of using the episode title, the plex server auto-adds the metadata title of the episode to a 12-16 numerical character title. Here’s the catch, the details of the show and other show details appear and are correct, but it is just the title.
It seems that it may be the individual metadata associated on each file itself and Plex is not automatically overriding this. Is there a way around it? I’m currently selecting the files with the issue, copying them to a generic drive on the Plex Server, selecting all the files, and removing the metadata, folder by folder, episode by episode if required… is there a faster way of doing this?
In there, grab the line ‘Local Media Assets’ with your mouse and drag it downwards, so it ends up being at the bottom of the stack of active agents.
Repeat the same under
Settings - Server - Agents - Shows - TheMovieDatabase
Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - Plex Movie
Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - TheMovieDatabase
Afterwards, ‘Refresh Metadata’ on these episodes or the whole series.
Trying it now. Setup Agents for TV Shows and Movies so that the Local Media Assets (TV/Movies) are at the bottom of each list for The TVBD and The Movie Database. Just doing a full server scan and refresh of all Metadata. I’ll let you know the results… Usually takes a while for my server because there’s a lot in there.
You should only Refresh Metadata for the whole server when it is necessary (i.e. when over ~ 8 shows are affected.)
Doing so presents a high strain for both the server, your internet connection and the metadata sources.
I’m looking at about 12 or so entire series affected by this, and then other show series have anywhere between 2 to 20 episodes affected - this is mostly for anime based shows as well. I think for TV shows there’s maybe 2 episodes in all.
