I have renamed properly all of the episodes of my show, as the data Plex pulls from online was incorrect for some of the episodes (IE, title wrong, description, etc).
But I want to know how to get my titles I typed on my Server to show up on Plex, without Plex overriding the titles I spent hours doing (S00E00 Title) as their “metadata” is incorrect.
I’ve already changed the Server Agent to no avail. These are 90s shows too.
Is there a way for Plex to just pull the custom title episodes from my server that I’ve named without triggering the metadata?
Plex, by default, matches TV shows to TheTVDB.com. You can match to The Movie Database as well.
Please provide a directory listing, screenshot, etc of the directory structure and file names, including extension.
How does it appear in Plex?
If you are using .mp4/.m4v files, then go to Settings -> Server -> Agents -> Shows. In all three sections, drag Local Media Assets (TV) to the bottom of the list. That will tell Plex to use the online sources first, before any metadata embedded in the files.
Then refresh the metadata for the TV show (the entire show, not an individual episode or season).
This is how it looks on Plex. When I first uploaded it, it had some episodes and titles and yes, even IMDB details inaccurate as some shows were 2 parts, so I went through and found the right titles and details and input the right info on my Synology Drive.
Edit: Put the show name as part of the episode name. Then Plex Dance the entire show. Missed it the first time I read your post.
After you renamed the files, did you refresh the metadata for the show and/or try the Plex Dance?
If not, try Plex Dancing the entire show. That will remove all existing metadata, then re-scan the files and re-download metadatea.
When I try it on my system, I get an immediate match with correct episode names. I’m using TheTVDB as an agent, and it is configured as shown above. Running PMS 1.20.3.3437 on a DS918+.
