TV Show Matching issues - not using Year

Server Version#: 1.18.6.2368

Hello,

I’ve been noticing for the last several version that TV shows with multiple versions (e.g. Doctor Who (1963) vs Doctor Who (2005)) have not been matching correctly. When I add a new episode to the 2005 folder, despite all other files in that folder being matched to the 2005 version of the show, the new episode matches to the 1963 version.

For reference, here’s the directory structure I’m using
\TV Shows
\Doctor Who (1963)
\Season X
\Doctor Who (2005)
\Season 12
\Doctor.Who.2005.S12E07
\Doctor.Who.2005.S12E07.mkv

I’ve noticed this also is happening with other shows, such as The Flash (2014). If I split the series apart, then fix the match on the mismatched episode, it fixes it, but having to do this for every new episode added to the library is tedious, and in my years using Plex, I’ve not had to go through this.

Note: I did try looking through the forum for an existing thread about this issue, but I could not seem to find anything which matched. Any help/advice you can provide would be helpful.

Thanks!

It’s hard to tell from the formatting, but do you have the file Doctor.Who.2005.S12E07.mkv in a sub-directory named Doctor.Who.2005.S12E07? Or is that just a typo? If you do have it that way, Plex probably won’t deal with it well. It should be directly in the Season 12 directory. I’m not sure if that would cause the problem you’re seeing though. Your folder structure looks correct otherwise.

As for the filename, it would be a good idea to enclose that year in parentheses. The way it is currently, Plex will treat it as part of title of the show instead of its year. Were it me, I’d name it like this:

\TV Shows\Doctor Who (2005)\Season 12\Doctor Who (2005) - S12E07.mkv
