TV Show Metadata Not Loading

I’ve been having issues for a while with TV show metadata not loading. For months I’ve been populating everything manually from the TVDB website. In my settings under Agents -> theTVDB I have “theTVDB”, “Plex Theme Music”, and “Local Media Assets (TV)” checked. My file structure is as follows:

Z:\TV Shows\Game of Thrones (2011)\Season 01\Game of Thrones - s01e01.mp4

This is just one example of course. As a side note I have Movies and Music set up in separate folders in the Z: drive and they both load metadata the way they should. Any idea why this isn’t working?

Leave Local Media Assets checked, but move it to the bottom of every list - everywhere.

You do not need (2011) in the Folder Name, but having it may do no harm.

After moving LMA to the bottom in all lists…:

The Plex Dance®:

  1. remove show/movie from library
  2. update library
  3. empty trash
  4. clean bundles
https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200392106-Library-Actions <— update library, empty trash, clean bundles
  5. bring names and structures into compliance/ check / double check / move LMA / etc
  6. replace corrected show/movie into library
  7. update library

All Steps. In Order. No Shortcuts.

Hi,
I’ve been having a similar thing - around 30% of my tv shows arent getting metadata.
When you say remove show from library do you mean actually remove the tv show folder?

For example, my file structure is

G:\TV Programs\American Dad
G:\TV Programs\American Hot Rod
G:\TV Programs\Better Call Saul\

So do I need to remove the folder G:\TV Programs\American Hot Rod\ and dump it on a temp hard drive or just select Delete from within the plex system? When I select “Delete” it says “Delete Show
Are you sure you want to delete this item from your filesystem?”

if i click yes it then says

Are you sure you want to delete this item from your filesystem?
Multiple files may be deleted.

Obviously I don’t want to completely remove the actual files from the hard drive…

Remove show, the whole thing, from the library folder, out of,the view of Plex.
When you update the library, if you’re not deleting trash automatically in Plex it will be marked for deletion.
When you Empty Trash, it’s gone from Plex.
When you Clean Bundles, that show’s bundle is removed… As if it never existed.

Now when you fix the filename and the structure to be compliant, Plex will instantly match it properly.

If it’s an mp4 or m4v file you want to have moved. Local Media Assets before you replace the files into the library or the same thing will happen again.

I moved LMA to the bottom of every list and then went back to check and they didn’t stay at the bottom of the list. Is this expected?

They should stay at the bottom of the active agents. If they are above inactive agents that’s ok. They must not be at the top.

Okay, I pushed forward with the instructions from JuiceWSA even though LMA didn’t stay at the bottom of the Agents lists and everything seems to be working now. The only difference is I removed the whole library instead of removing individual shows from the Library. This is only because I couldn’t find the option to remove individual shows without removing the file from the server. Probably my ignorance more than anything. Anyway, I followed the rest of the instructions and everything is currently updating properly. We have slow internet so it’s taking some time but at least one series has completed successfully.

Thank you JuiceWSA, you’ve been an awesome help!
