TV Show naming issue

Here is an interesting question. How do I add an extra episode to a TV show, even if it pulls no meta data? I can add the meta data myself, I just want the extra file to be recognized.

Here is what I ran into. I have the following television show in my media server. Sleepy Hollow (2013). I do not have the following show in my media server. Bones (2005).

However, there is a 2 part cross over in season 3 episode 5 of sleepy hollow and season 11 episode 5 of bones. I have this one episode of bones and would like to include it in my media server with the sleepy hollow season 3 episodes.

If you just want it to show up you can name it with a s01e01 format, just give it a number that doesn’t exist

i.e., if there’s 10 episodes just name it s01e11 and it will show up

You can then edit the metadata and name it whatever you want

The problem with that is it’s not technically in order the way it was intended to be watched

I suggest you use the search bar here in the forum and input “crossover episodes”

I know there’s been lengthy discussions on the best ways to do what you’re talking about

I’d add Bones S11E05 as a special (Season 00 folder) of Sleepy Hollow. Since the online databases don’t have any specials defined for Sleepy Hollow you can pretty much use any episode number you want in season 00, but I’d probably choose something not too low in case there are some added in the future. So, something like:

TV shows/   <--- Library points here, name unimportant
    Sleepy Hollow (2013/
        Season 00/
            Sleepy Hollow (2013) - S00E50 - Bones Crossover.ext

After scanning the library and detecting it, give it reasonable metadata. But ensure you set the Originally Available date correctly.

If you do the above, it will show in the proper place in Continue Watching as you’re going through Sleepy Hollow. Or if you were to create a smart playlist of Sleep Hollow episodes sorted by release date, it will appear in the correct place.
