Struggling a bit with a TV series (https://www.thetvdb.com/series/feherty). I have followed the naming convention outlined here (https://support.plex.tv/articles/200220687-naming-series-season-based-tv-shows/) … but very odd, if I go in to one of the directories (seasons), and even just (Linux) touch a file … other seasons will go away. For example. go in to Season 01, do a touch … and voila, Season 01 shows up in Plex! But … Season 02 goes away. OK, so over to Season 02, touch (a file) … and Season 02 shows up now, but Season 01 disappears. Arrgh!
Is there a way to debug this? As noted above, the files are following the defined format, as does the directory structure. Thoughts?
Are you adhering to the precribed folder structure as well?
Please show a full path for one episode.
Posting the content of the Plex XML info of one episode can’t hurt as well.
That is VERY bad advice!!! That naming is completely wrong for Plex and while Plex will try to match it and “may” succeed it violates several rules of Plex naming.
From the earlier posts the problem is NOT naming but rather may well be embedded metadata. To fix that you can either use one of may tools to remove the bad metadata or you can simply override Plex stupidity and in settings/agents in shows at the least move “Local media assets” below everything else.
OK, I did try changing the order, putting TheTVDB ahead of Local Media Assets (TV) - at least the directories reappear - thanks!
Now, just a few shows in the wrong season … wondering if somehow I need to let it try to clean itself up (i.e. clear some cache somewhere?)? Oh, and is this order change safe to do (all the time)?
Your file and folder naming is immaculate. No need to change anything.
This is a global change which affects all shows which are matched to the TheTVDB agent. i.e. you only need to do it once.
If you absolutely wanna make sure that every episode is reset and processed according to the new agent configuration, perform the Plex Dance with the whole show.
