TV Show not recognized in "TV Shows" Folder, works in "Other Videos"

So I have a season of a TV show in a folder by season, in accordance with the Plex help info. I think everything is sorted and named correctly.

But no matter what I do, Plex refuses to see the show.

If I take the main folder of the show and move it into the “Other Videos” folder, all the episodes and everything shows up beautifully. I can play the show on the Plex app and all is perfect. (Except that I lose the sorting of the seasons, all the shows just show up at the top level.)

But this is a TV show, not an “other.”

I am using Plex Version 1.9.5.4339 on a Synology NAS.

What could be the problem?

  1. How did you name and structure the Show?
  2. Does user plex have permission to read the folders and files?

I have it set up like this:

TV Shows
-----Show Name
----------Season 01
---------------Show Name - Episode Title
---------------Show Name - Episode Title
---------------Show Name - Episode Title
---------------Show Name - Episode Title

Also, user plex has permission to read & write the files. I have three other TV shows in the TV shows folder and they all work just fine.

I figured it out!

I had to change the episode titles to this:

---------------Show Name - s01e01 - Episode Title

now it works!

Sorry I didn’t catch your post of 10 minutes earlier. Yes, You do need SxxExx format (or SxE)
