TV show only appears in movies?

I have a show, Fate/Apococrypha, that I want to watch. When I put the folder in my linked TV folder, which has never had a problem with any files (these are mp4) since I’ve had Plex, they neither appeared on the web browser or on any platform thats connected (xbox, iPad, etc) to the server. The folder, or show name for that matter, is just not that.

For f*cks sake I decided to try putting them into to the movie folder. What? There they are? Obviously in no folder order, but still there. I’m completely out of my mind about this as I’m an organisation freak.

I tried bringing the files through iTunes and make sure they were encoded (however iTunes does it, no idea if thats legit) and brought that folder into the TV section with no results as well. Still nothing.

Any ideas? Suggestions?

I’m running macOS Sierra 10.12.6

“Fate Apocrypha (2017)/Season 01/Fate Apocrypha (2017) - S01E01 - Apocrypha: The Great Holy Grail War.mkv”
[…]
“Fate Apocrypha (2017)/Season 01/Fate Apocrypha (2017) - S01E12 - The Saint’s Return.mkv”

I wouldn’t reply except the same thing happened to me today for a mini-series. It helps to check tvdb’s listing for the series.

Thank you so much for the response. This is going to sound really dumb but I’m on TVDB, it only lists the episode names, numbers and such, nothing else, am I missing something? Seems you have more info than I do… I’ve never had to deal with tvdb before really. I appreciate your help truly and its nice (sort of!) to know theres someone out there that has fixed this before!

What else do you expect it to have?
It has enough for Plex to work, I think.

Is your library in Plex set to a language other than english?

Right. Plex uses a fairly specific naming convention. So, at a minimum you should use a format like this for content that doesn’t get picked up automatically:

<Show Name>/<Season ##>/<Show Name> - S##E##.<Extension>

I’ve been putting the year into my file names lately, just to line up my naming convention with the naming convention used by Plex DVR, but in your case, this would be just fine:

Fate Apocrypha/Season 01/Fate Apocrypha - S01E01.mkv

All of the additional information can be collected from TVDB, but the key is to make sure you have the season and episode number in the file name, and everything else Plex can pretty much get on its own. Most people choose to put the episode titles into the file names just for ease of identification (and that’s typically how things are named anyway when you obtain them).
