TV Show: Option/Strictly follow Season folder

Problem is similar to this post [Bug] Plex sorts "10" before "2"

Request to strictly follow the Season XX (more than 10) before episode naming/guessing

Problem now:
Folder “Season 11”
Episode.345.mp4

Becomes Season 3 > Episode 45

Request/Fix:
Folder “Season 11”
Episode.345.mp4

Becomes Season 11 > Episode 345

Although I do use the s11e345 or s11e## (Season 11’s episode #) as per Plex’s naming convention, this would help greatly as episodes don’t get mixed up in existing Seasons, before the User has to go into the filesystem and make changes manually or via apps/scripts

As the naming convention is setup already and filename guessing is a great feature, why not stick to it? since the User has specifically created a Season XX folder, and for any shows that go up to 200+ episodes in one Season

If it might break the majority of users, the addition of an Option in

  • Library addition screen, or
  • Season metadata > Edit > Advanced
    eg:
“Check to strictly follow Season folder before name guessing” or similar would be great

This way, it helps further to follow Plex’s naming convention

“Season 02”
Episode 201

Although we know its Season 2 Episode 01 for most file naming, with the Strict option, it should become
Season 02
Episode 201

After that, if the user chooses, can rename the files later to follow Plex’s default s02e01 naming convention which returns the correct Episode ##

Early 2021 clean-up: obsolete (discussed naming does not meet Plex naming schema – use sXXeYY instead where XX is the season and YY is the episode number)
