I’m wondering if there’s a way to build smart playlists or collections for a show based on which characters are present. For example, I have a Looney Tunes Show entry but I’d like to built playlists (or collections) of episodes for Bugs Bunny, Road Runner, Daffy Duck, etc. So far the only thing I can come up with is to get list of episodes for each character open in one window, Plex in another, and build the playlists by hand. Has anyone had experience doing this? I was hoping that there’d be some kind of metadata for each episode showing the characters in each one, but there doesn’t seem to be anything like that I can scrape.
Currently there’s no such option.
While Plex has metadata on the show’s cast, you can only filter by actors on the show level – not by roles nor episode based appearances. The underlying metadata can also be a bit tricky. Most online repositories distinguish the main cast per season (and show) from guest actors who only appear on individual episodes. The first are usually only listed on the show/season level, while the latter are only listed on the episode level – and not all individual shows aren’t necessarily complying with that guideline. That makes it a bit tricky to come up with such a filter
