I’ve only recently installed the Plex server on my NAS and the movies folder when pretty smoothly, but my TV shows list is completely messed up. For example if I go into the folder for Agent Carter, it’s showing episodes of Charmed and A Discovery Of Witches as well. Those are definitely not located in that folder. If I check the episode info it lists a heap of different files for the episode instead of just the one. Any advice you guys can offer?
If you want to include some additional structure to your tv-show folders, make sure to point your library to your file system so the structure still matches the official naming schema.
In your example you should point your library to /volume1/Media/Series/A - E/ (and the subsequent alphabetical grouping folders) – not to /volume1/Media/Series/! Pointing the library to a different level will cause mixups as in your screenshot.
While Plex can deal with all episodes in the folder of their show, scanning/updating should see improvements if you group the files per season (e.g. /Black Lightning/Seaon 02/Black Lightning - s02e02 - Black Jesus Blues.mkv).
Thanks Tom. Is the episode number format I’m using alright eg 2x02? Or do I have to use the format you have in your example eg s02e02?
From what I’ve seen, Plex will recognize the 2x02s format – however that’s not “officially” supported. Plex generally prefers the sXXeYY schema.
Linking to the alphabetised folders instead of the root series folder seems to have done the trick, even without changing my naming scheme. Thank for the help
