My servers are no longer adding tv episodes. They are scanning the folders

But nothing is being added to the database, as far as I can see the permissions are fine

Doesn’t get picked up, but

Got picked up fine. Of the 5 last TV shows I added none of them appear in the plex library.

Any suggestions? - I was hoping to avoid deleting the library and recreating it.

I had a lot of problems getting Deutschland to scan (due to it’s odd title naming) and it and nothing after it have worked.

ps. no plex ignore files

johnk@ds416play:/volume2/video/tv$ find . -name .plexignore
johnk@ds416play:/volume2/video/tv$

Please note: SxxExx not SxxEPxx

Ok - that looks like some sort of change to the code that does the finding/identifying it looks like I’ve been systematically doing it wrong, over 5000 episodes named that way.

johnk@ds416play:/volume2/video/tv$ find . -type f  | grep -E ep[0-9][0-9] | head -3
./Billy Connollys great american trail/Season 01/Billy Connolly's Great American Trail -  s01ep01.m4v
./Billy Connollys great american trail/Season 01/Billy Connolly's Great American Trail - s01ep02.m4v
./Billy Connollys great american trail/Season 01/Billy Connolly's Great American Trail - s01ep03.m4v
johnk@ds416play:/volume2/video/tv$ find . -type f  | grep -E ep[0-9][0-9] | wc -l

Yeah, changing SxxEPxx to SxxExx has picked up some sample missing episodes. I’ve been doing it ‘wrong’ for over 7 years and never had a problem.

I think the old agents were a little more forgiving but not quite as accurate

If you have a lot of files to rename you can try this

Rename My TV Series 2

When I did the change to the new agent, i went over all my media and confirmed it was ‘perfect’ (it would be poor form if a Plex guy had poorly named media – haha)

There are a number of tools, some free and some paid, which get everything in perfect form in a heartbeat – 90% automated (you drag-drop, click ‘search’, then ‘rename’ if you’re happy with the new names)

I use filebot. I’m very happy with it. PMS never misses for me.

When I first ran it, I got about 50 full series (all episodes) done in the first hour.
The more I ran, the more confidence I gained and, in the end, dropped in blocks of 100 at a time. When all way said and done, my entire QA test library (998 series) was all perfectly named.

If desired, I’ll share the renaming rules I use.

Thanks - I did a manual rename of the missing stuff and it’s all appeared. I guess the agent changed and that’s what caused the problem.

Thanks for the recommendations for renamers - I’ll need one that works on Windows and Synology, I’ll probably look for one that’s free - I can only imagine doing this once.

My canned response is to see https://support.plex.tv/articles/naming-and-organizing-your-tv-show-files/ and:

If you want to save yourself a lot of time I would recommend using Download - tinyMediaManager and use:

Episode format:
${showTitle} - S${seasonNr2}E${episodeNr2} - ${title}

Folder format:
${showTitle} (${showYear}) {tvdb-${tvShow.ids.tvdb}}/Season ${seasonNr2}

as the new name format.
(Please note I linked to the v3 which is free to use)
