TV Shows not being added to the library

I have several TV Shows that are not showing up in my library. I’ve been using Plex for about 10 years and am very familiar with the naming convention and normally I can resolve issues but I have several shows that I giving me a headache. One example is “10 That Changed America” I’ve followed the proper naming convention and even verified that it’s thetvdb. I’ve tried looking at log files but don’t see any reference to that show. I’m guessing that whatever the issue is with this might be my issue with the other shows so any thoughts on what I might be missing?

Here’s an example of the naming convention:

E:\Multimedia\TV Shows\10 That Changed America\Season 01\10 That Changed America - s01e03.mp4

According to all documentation, I don’t see why it doesn’t pick that up.

Your file names and folder structure are perfect. :+1:

Make sure your files either don’t contain any metadata, or contain only correct metadata.
You can check/edit/delete those for instance with mp3tag

Make sure your tv show library is pointing exactly to
E:\Multimedia\TV Shows.
Not one folder level above, nor below it.

Perform the Plex Dance with the whole tv show.

Thanks for the reply. Using mp3tag I saw that it had some incorrect metadata and I corrected that.

I verified the library path and it is set to E:\Multimedia\TV Shows I have several hundred other shows in that library so I think that is correct.

I did poke around in the Plex Media Scanner log file and I found the following entries. It looks like it thinks the program is already there? How can I look at what it thinks is the program?

^^^ this line tells us that you need to perform the Plex Dance with the whole show.
All steps, in the prescribed order.

Thanks for pointing out the steps. I had done that originally but I did miss the step of moving the files out of sight of Plex and so I repeated the process. This time I saw the show show up for a few seconds only to disappear. I tried all the steps a second time, this time disabling the subzero plugin and had the same result.

Here are the log files again and it looks like I need to do the “plex dance” but I’ve done that twice with the same result. Any other thoughts?

Thank you!

Activate the ‘Duplicates’ filter in your TV show library. Inspect the “Plex media info” of one or two episodes of every show, where you see the little2 overlaid on the poster.
You will probably find that the episodes have been matched to a different show altogether.
