If you can grab the ZIP file and attach it, i will look after I complete a task I need for the new packaging.
As requested: (I also have kept myself constant on 1.18.5 since last night.)
Working service file for you (yes, it’s excessive):

Secondary question:
What do you think of the new installation packaging?
Update: In between my tasking, I’m learning more about rclone.
It appears to need to run as the plex user (plex in this case).
That said, it needs .rclone.conf in its home directory unless otherwise specified (/var/lib/plexmediaserver by default)
More to learn as time permits
Wonder if --allow-other is needed .
I do have that as part of my system command. Refer to post 23 to see what it was yesterday. I did add user and group to that as well since then.
that was it
Also needed to user_allow_other in /etc/fuse.conf
Scanning gdrive sample media now.
I just checked my fuse.conf, and user_allow_other was already listed. Good idea, I appreciate the help. Thank you.
Ok.. it’s time to make absolutely certain the series “Angel” is properly “Plex Danced” on your system.
As promised, I uploaded my QA files for Angel and a few other series to google drive.
I then added a “Google TV” library section.
Drilling into “Angel” reveals proper match without any misses.
This isn’t a server problem.
I suspect naming changes have caused the bad fingerprint (how Plex detects duplicates) to be retained.
On Google, to Plex dance.
- Open Gdrive in a window
- Move the series somewhere Plex doesn’t monitor
- Return to Plex: Scan files, wait for it to finish. Empty Trash, Clean bundles - also waiting for them to finish
- Move the series back into the Google drive area
- Scan again and allow it to match as new.
Grrr… Okay…
followed your directions explicitly, here is a putty view of my server:
This is what I am left with:
Here is the log file:
Plex Media Server Logs_2020-01-21_14-49-04.zip (2.5 MB)
Perhaps we can do a remote control session in the next day or so.
That might be a good solution.
I see it read and then PULL the media info from the files local tags.
This is concerning as it appears to be happening before actually performing the query.
What is your agent stacking for Television?
Do you have “Local Media Assets” at the top or the bottom (where it belongs) ?
Local Media Assets is unchecked and at the bottom of the list. This is most frustrating. Tomorrow lets chat IRL. Can you send a private message to me. (I don’t know if the forum allows for that or not.)
Perhaps we can do a remote control session this upcoming weekend, if you have availability. I just moved a different folder into place that has no meta data in its files and the files are named per filebot. (The Mandalorian)
Did the dance prior to this. And per the logs:
- Timeout or error reading status line from plug-in pipe [com.plexapp.agents.thetvdb], we’re killing it
- Error received reading configuration for com.plexapp.agents.thetvdb
- JobManager: Could not find job for handle 3003
- No matches for search.
What address does plex use to reach out to thetvdb? I can check to make sure that is being resolved correctly on the server as is. (I have checked with ping results, on the server api.thetvdb.com is coming back as 13.224.0.244, which is a cloudfront server in Seattle.
At this point I am quite flummoxed as to what the heck is going on. And I am just about ready to just delete Plex entirely from that server and reinstall fresh. But I am not wanting to take a nuclear option yet.
There IS an alternative
- Stop PMS
- Rename the “Library” directory to be “Library.keep”
- Sign out of Plex/web
- Start PMS
- Open the server IP again AS IF setting up fresh
- indeed start setting up fresh – EXCEPT
a. Give the server a Friendly name which is obvious – like TESTING so it doesn’t collide with anything else.
b. Give it one small thing to do (this one section)
c. Don’t setup anything else
d. Leave it at all the other defaults. - Let it run through and observe final results.
Your existing server will be offline while this happens but is held safe in the renamed directory.
Should this be not yield valid matches then the problem is the media / naming / embedded metadata.
However, if it does then the old fingerprints were never really removed and it was stuck.
Here is what I get when I try with debug on and looking at RAW logs.
Plex log.txt (9.2 KB)
Although I did it again with Angel, and here is the RAW logs.
plex log 2.txt (620.6 KB)
The really frustrating part of all of this, I am not having this problem on my local Windows PMS. It finds everything quickly. GRRR
WHY am I only getting a snippet of a log file?
what should I be looking at please?

I had typed that up and posted it JUST as you posted the instructions above. Sorry.
Working on your instructions now.
Thanks for clarifying! I was confused (which happens FAR too easily!
)
Plex Media Server Logs_2020-01-22_11-54-29.zip (245.4 KB)
Well that worked.
