Tv Shows Not Recognized

Server Version#: 4.8.4

Hi everyone ! I’m a new Plex user, and I’m experiencing troubles with adding TV Shows.
I followed this article for naming : https://support.plex.tv/articles/200220717-local-media-assets-tv-shows/
My file structure looks like this :
16|690x709
I also did the ‘Plex dance’ many times.
However I’m steel totally stuck.
Hope someone can help me !
Best regards !
Romain!

Try fix match and or Search options found in the Ellipsis (…)

I have had no issue with Chernobyl

If you can’t even get the library - click more and pin it to the side bar (wild guess) - providing “TV Shows” is a TV Show Library Type and Plex is aimed ONLY at the ‘TV Shows’ folder.

Your file naming is fine - so that’s not the problem (and it usually is - congratulations).

Thx SE56, but if I refer to this article: https://support.plex.tv/articles/201018497-fix-match-match/ I’m afraid that I can’t fix the match since I can’t see any show in the library

Thx JuiceWSA, I already pinned it in the side bar, unfortunately, I’m still stuck with an empty library

There are my library config

Yep, it all looks normal and proper to me… hmmm
You have triggered a manual scan of said library? A shared library may not automatically detect itself, or the changes therein.

Try Settings/ scroll down that first page a bit and press ‘Reset Customization’ (Save, I guess, would be the next button you press) - you may have to re-pin the Movie Library or you may see everything just show up.

If that doesn’t work - we’ll call in the paramedics. I feel it’s something simple we’re (I am) missing.

Nope that doesn’t work. I’ve also tried to delete, re-create the library, it’s still does’nt work.
Also, I don’t know if it can help to identify the problem, the scan is performed in less than 2s each time, like if there are no files in the directory

Is it perhaps a permissions issue? Can you make sure user “plex” has at least read and execute permissions to the directories/files you’re adding to your library?

I think we’re onto something and this is where I watch what happens - out of my wheelhouse.

@pshanew like a chmod 775 on the folder ?

Yes, 775 should work.

I have this for the TV Shows folder :
drwxr-xr-x 5 freebox 4242 0 Oct 20 15:03 ‘TV Shows’

And for the folders and files within?

drwxr-xr-x 3 freebox 4242 0 Oct 20 15:17 Chernobyl
drwxr-xr-x 3 freebox 4242 0 Oct 20 15:18 ‘Silicon Valley’
drwxr-xr-x 3 freebox 4242 0 Oct 20 15:18 ‘The Walking Dead’
and for Chernobyl for example :
drwxr-xr-x 2 freebox 4242 0 Oct 19 17:00 ‘Season 01’
within Season 01 :
-rw-rw---- 1 freebox 4242 5868590756 Oct 18 00:29 ‘Chernobyl - s01e01.mkv’
-rw-rw---- 1 freebox 4242 3770368 Oct 17 18:30 ‘Chernobyl - s01e01.sub’
-rw-rw---- 1 freebox 4242 5866228782 Oct 18 01:37 ‘Chernobyl - s01e02.mkv’
-rw-rw---- 1 freebox 4242 4941824 Oct 17 19:00 ‘Chernobyl - s01e02.sub’
-rw-rw---- 1 freebox 4242 5867318886 Oct 18 04:43 ‘Chernobyl - s01e03.mkv’
-rw-rw---- 1 freebox 4242 4370432 Oct 17 19:05 ‘Chernobyl - s01e03.sub’
-rw-rw---- 1 freebox 4242 5867562397 Oct 18 04:51 ‘Chernobyl - s01e04.mkv’
-rw-rw---- 1 freebox 4242 3897344 Oct 17 19:07 ‘Chernobyl - s01e04.sub’
-rw-rw---- 1 freebox 4242 7035202362 Oct 18 04:52 ‘Chernobyl - s01e05.mkv’
-rw-rw---- 1 freebox 4242 6328320 Oct 17 19:08 ‘Chernobyl - s01e05.sub’

Ok, thx @pshanew !!! It was a permission problem as you said, I did a chmod 775 -r on the Season 01 folder of Chernobyl, and the magic operred !!! I’m so happy ! I was stuck for two days !

@pshanew to the rescue!

Thank you all for your answers ! Do you know how to close the topic ?

You can give @pshanew the solution - and leave it as an item for someone else that may find happiness herein…

Ok, thx @JuiceWSA, I just did it, so for resume, if anyone else is stuck with a problem like this, try to make a chmod 775 -R on the directory the library is pointing on
