TV Shows not updating newly installed "extras"

Server Version#:PlexMediaServer-1.20.2.3343-c91f25744-x86_64.
Player Version#: Version 1.20.2.3343

When adding extra content to my Tv shows lately, it just never shows up. I have used the same naming I have used in the past (which works just fine for all the old “extras”. I have tried refreshing the metadata. Rescanning the Library Files to no avail. Also a particularly puzzling thing occurred when rescanning. Only 1 folder seems to rescan, the server no-longer starts at the first show and proceed around showing progress, just 1 show scans and then the process stops. Everything on the server is up to date. Any clues? Mostly everything else works as it should, mostly.

Considering Plex itself doesn’t support local extras for tv shows, I suppose you’re talking either about specials or you’ve been using a 3rd party agent to deal with that.

If this is about regular “specials” and you are no longer able to add content from a certain folder… have you verified you can still play content from that folder? If not this might be some permission issue.

If this is about “local extras” and you had been using a 3rd party agent – make sure it is still installed and enabled for the agent used in that library.

May I urge you to downgrade back to Public release 1.20.1 until Engineering sorts out a problem with 1.20.2.3343 which was discovered late Thursday night.

Not familiar on how to do that. I do not see the link on the website for old renditions. Any help would be appreciated.

3rd party agent still installed and functioning.

in that case best double-check the logs of that particular agent to see what goes wrong.
also… as suggested by ChuckPa: maybe it’s worth to downgrade to the previous version (public release = previous beta release) – not exactly sure about the issue but I suppose there it might interfere with your 3rd party agent… so better safe than sorry

@contrary_cat : you aware of any issues with your agent and that particular version of PMS (or a general issue)?

@Dadrepus

On the Downloads page,

Turn OFF “Plex Pass Downloads” button.
You will now see the Public version. 1.20.1

Got ya!

Downgraded to 1.20.1. Restarted the server just in case. Ran a scan on TV library files and still only a single tv show was scanned as logs indicate. Which also mean the tv shows “extras” agent did not apply the changes to my show as well. Checked both logs.

I am going to try to restart the qnap instead of just the Plex server to see if that helps but I doubt it.

I just check the Qnap logs and it is saying " cannot create a “Plex data share”. This may be the problem? How do I fix this? Do i ask in the Qnap forum or a Plex/Qnap forum?

The “PlexData” share is the diagnostic share I added in 1.19.5.
It’s problematic for some (and apparently you too) which is why I made it fully optional in PMS 1.20.2.

To stop the error (which doesn’t impact operating),

  1. Stop PMS
  2. Control Panel - Shared Folders
  3. Create a Shared Folder named PlexData anywhere you want it
  4. Assign the permissions for use/access in FileStation however you deem appropriate
  5. Now start PMS.

When PMS starts, it will create a link in the shared folder which will allow you to get directly to your Plex metadata for making backups, customizing PMS, or just grabbing the logs if/when PMS won’t work via the GUI.

It seems I already had it but removed it and reapplied it and now seems to be linked.
Thanks. So, what you are saying, this should have had no effect on whether a scan of library files worked or not?

That’s correct.

Because of how QNAP works (where it keeps PMS and the metadata locked away in an inaccessible location), I added this shared folder to make it easier for you.

Here’s the FAQ about it.

Checked the logs after running Scan files in TV (Plex Media Scanner) and it shows that all tv shows are getting some action even if its to say “no changes”. Checked logs in (plexapp.agent.localmedia) as well as (plexapp.agent.localtvextras) and only action being shown is for “Marvel Runaways”. This is the show previously indicated in the plugins logs.

I should tell you that I have another Library called “TV Shows Animation” that I have all the cartoons for my children to find quickly. Just recently purchased “Anamaniacs, 5 seasons and extra content”
which all displayed correctly within the folder including “Extras”. All added the same way as previous TV shows. What’s up with that?

This issue has been fixed by Contrary_cat in his forum. He asked me to run “match” again and once I did all “Extra” content was visible to Plex. I didn’t think I had to do that as the video was matched before the extra content was added ( a youtube video…the making of…) but I guess that is what it took to bind all videos.
Thanks for all the suggestions. Still won’t upgrade until all the issues you mentioned are worked out.
