I downloaded episodes of Peoples Court from my TiVo using KMTTG, and decrypted them. I placed them in a new folder on my hard drive. They have extension .mpg
When I create a new TV Shows library and add the folder then scan the new library, Plex says the library is empty.
When I add the same folder to my existing Movies library and then scan, the episodes are in the library and play fine.
What could possible be causing this?
Replying to my own question:
So I see that if I put an episode number in the name, it shows up in the TV Show lib but not the Movies lib. Even if I select Unmatched in the display options, it makes no difference. Seems like Plex has overthought this.
TiVo (aka Rovi) does not supply episode numbers for this series. (Episode numbers that they supply for other series are often wrong, anyway.)
Looks like the best solution is to create a separate Movies library just for this series.
This is intentional. If you want TV shows organized into shows and seasons, they need to be named with the season/episode number or the aired date. If you don’t care and just want a flat folder full of file, then you could use the Movie library, but these will just be all mixed up and not organized.
