TVDB down again? No metadata for tv shows since yesterday morning?

Alright, solved my problem by:

  • deleting plugin cache
  • moved the few episodes that were giving me trouble
  • cleaned up bundles
  • added episodes again
  • tvdb data looks correct now.

Thanks for providing the 503 info… I can pass that to operations.

I’m having it again…and plex can’t get new metadata. Cleared cache etc as suggested (did it also yesterday) but still no luck…

It worked yesterday for some time but now it looks like its down again?

Seem to be having the same issue here getting HTTPError 503 to https://tvdb2.plex.tv/series/72514/images?lang=en

I don’t know why this worked good for such an long time and now it doesn’t even work for one day…

See this thread on Reddit. The TVDB is experiencing some issues with its API.

I haven’t been able to get posters for my TV shows for the past 12 hours or so. Other metadata seems to be coming through fine. Could this be because of the recent TVDB issues? I have two servers on separate devices and both of them have been facing this issue so I don’t think it is to do with issues with my Plex library data/files.

Same here. 503 errors since yesterday for TVDB. Still pulling from TMDB when I changed to that. I guess I’ll just wait a few days and see what happens. All metadeta coming down for me except for posters on TVDB.

For me in the UK - metadata OK but no posters, example below

2018-06-02 19:12:29,650 (7000063a4000) : INFO (__init__:1082) - HTTP Error 403: Forbidden
2018-06-02 19:12:29,653 (7000063a4000) : DEBUG (networking:166) - Requesting 'https://thetvdb.com/banners/'

2018-06-02 19:12:30,059 (7000067a7000) : ERROR (networking:219) - Error opening URL 'https://thetvdb.com/banners/'
2018-06-02 19:12:34,891 (700005b9e000) : INFO (__init__:1118) - Series Extra XML is empty - therefore, no season XML

The TVDB is having issues with their API. There is unfortunately nothing any of us can do until they resolve it internally.

So it is on their end that we are getting the 403 errors then, right? That’s what I figured but it’s always nice getting a confirmation from others.

Yes. There is only partial service.

According to thetvdb’s facebook they are up and running and the issue is with Plex.

I’m working on this now. I’ve been at it all day so far. I’ll report when I have more.

The issue with the missing posters seems to be due to errors in the TVDB scraper .xml file as per this thread on the Kodi forums. Thanks for looking into it @ChuckPA and look forward to seeing the posters back in my library.

A fix for the missing artwork will be included in the next Plex Media Server beta release due out very soon

Thanks @chrisallen. Good to hear that! Approximately when might it make it out of beta and over to a public release?

We’re finalizing the release notes now.
It will be released through the normal PlexPass beta channel.

We’re trying to get it pushed out early today.

I am plexpass and all, which is great.

But really? This is a huge bug, which is causing issues for literally every plex user, and plex without artwork is just horrible, why is this fix hidden behind a plexpass only release instead of just getting this out there ASAP?

We are working quickly to get this to beta, and then to public shortly after.

Just curious will the beta address what I’m seeing this morning when I do a rescan of my TV Shows library? I have 2 shows that I had to “re-create” in Plex a couple of days ago, and all metadata on the MP4 files themselves is fine, it’s just the poster and show info that Plex creates is missing when a new show is added. I’m getting HTTP 404 errors now this morning:
